Running Head: BULLYING IS THE MOST UNFAIR THING IN THE WORLD

Bullying Is The Most Unfair Thing In The World Richard Salvatierra Luis Peredo Roberto Aponte Santa Cruz Cooperative School

3.7 million youths engage in bullying, and more than 3.2 million are victims of “moderate” or “serious” bullying each year. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior usually among children that involves a real or observed power inequality. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time and usually gets worse. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose. Bullying is tremendously unfair in the world we live in because it can engage them into violence and other risky behaviors into adulthood, mental health issues and lower their self-esteem.

Bullying has come to be one of the most unjust things in our planet because it can engage them into violence and other risky behaviors into adulthood. William E. Copeland lead author of the study and an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Duke University Medical said, ‘’Men who were victims were 18.5 times more likely to have had suicidal thoughts in adulthood, compared to the participants who had not been bullied or perpetuators’’(Copeland, 2005) This quote shows how bullying is unfair since it can affect the future of the victim because it can cause them to do unfortunate things in their adulthood. Bullying can cause serious long-term effects which can be lethal for any victim suffering from this event.

Bullying is tremendously unfair in the world we live in because it can lead them into violence and do unacceptable things as they go into their adulthood. A clinical psychologist at Duke University Medical Center called Dr.Copeland also said, "To my surprise…...

Eratosthenes, the Most Knowledgeable Man in the World

...Eratosthenes, the Most Knowledgeable Man in the World Eratosthenes was born in 276 B.C. in Cyrene, Libya. He has been known by many names including Philologos (the friend of learning), Pentathos by his friends because of his varied accomplishments and Beta because he was the second most knowledgeable in all branches of learning but never the first ("NNDB tracking the entire world"). From his earliest childhood, he was a great thinker. He loved school and he loved learning. He was a student who could not get enough information. He was always asking questions in an attempt to quench his thirst for knowledge. Instead of becoming satiated with what he learned in the gymnasium, which is what school was called, the knowledge that he derived just drove him further into his studies. His parents and instructors realized that they had a unique individual who was capable of doing great things. When Eratosthenes was young, he was called to attend school away from his home. He had instruction from brilliant men like Callimachus of Alexandria, the Stoic Ariston, and the Academic Arcesilaus of Athens. Eratosthenes tried the patience of these men dearly. They wanted him to learn specific lessons but Erasthones’ mind was always running from one point to another. He would have the answer and then ask even more questions. Soon he had learned all that he could from his teachers (Lasky, and Hawkes 15). In today’s classrooms, many students like this would be treated as having ADD or ADHD......

3 Most Important Things for Cv

...harder to find a job because of the economic depression. There is an increase in the number of applicants, on the other hand there is not enough vacancy for them and it creates a competition. In this situation, writing an effective CV can be just the reason of getting an interview or even maybe of getting hired. However how can a CV be effective? How can we take attention and have a chance to get an interview from the company we apply? There can be lots of different things to consider for writing a CV but in our opinion, the three most important things are being clear, simple but informative, stating what helps you to stand out from others to fit the job and hooking up the person who is reading. First of all, we firmly believe that, a CV must be removed from everything unnecessary. It must be simple, easy to understand and at the same time include all the necessary information. As Cowan states in her article “10 Tips on Writing a Successful CV”, there are lots of other people who send their CV’s and because of this most of the time the decision-maker will not read each one fully, they will decide about it within sections so keeping it clear, short and informative is going to give you a better chance (2012). As it can be seen it is a simple but tricky part of writing a CV to keep it clear and short but informative. Secondly, while you try to keep it simple, clear and short, the information you are going to put about yourself must be relevant and matching to the job you......

Bullying

...Bullying By Addison M Ellis Jr. Bullying is both immoral, unfair and a form of prejudice because the person that is bullying is tearing down another human being emotionally and physically only because that individual is different. I would think a bully would have compassion after seeing that the person he is bullying is scared. You would think that this sight of fear would stop a bully from attacking, but it doesn’t. It makes the bully feel powerful and with power comes control. It is unfair because no one should have to walk through life scared to go to school or scared to enjoy themselves around other children. The child that is being bullied will try to find some route of escape whether it be dropping out of school, suicide, etc. Bullying is an immoral and very unfair action toward another human being. If bullying is happening to any child and anyone sees it. We should stop it before it goes too far. I watched this documentary called bully; this film was shot in 2011. It’s about five children that were getting bullied. The producer followed 3 of the children through school, on bus rides, and at their home. The other two children they had to interview their parents and follow rallies that their parents attended because those two boy’s committed suicide. One little boy stood out to me because the look in his eye’s was so heart breaking his name......

The Most Important Thing About Communication Is Hearing What Isn't Said.

...THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT COMMUNICATION IS HEARING WHAT ISN’T SAID. (Peter Drucker, 2013) Our world has become a global market place where effective communication is a necessity to survive. Identifying the connections between the people involved in the exchange of information is critical to effective communication. The aims of this blog are threefold: The first is to explain the concept of Social Competence; the second shows how the use of Intrapersonal communication can influence one’s communication; and the third portrays the importance of intercultural communication. SOCIAL COMPETENCE Social competence is the capacity to manage self and relationships effectively. It is the basis of emotional competence (Dwyer, 2009 p.68). The idea behind social competence is that there are many ways to react to situations, and some of them are more constructive than others. Robinson et al. (2013 p. 1268) states that socially competent people are potentially less likely to engage in reactive aggression because they have learned that this form of behaviour does not typically solve interpersonal problems, but rather exacerbates them. Rossana Condeleo quotes: “ The role of any person in this world is to be themselves without damaging the rest. We are important as long as the rest ‘is’ ”. (goodreads 2013) To put this all together, there is real value in learning how to deal with people effectively. But life is sometimes full of frustrating people and situations and......

Bullying

...Bullying Report BSHS/325 INTRODUCTION What is bullying? Webster Dictionary defines bullying as: use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants. Let’s look at this from the vision of adolescents (victims) and see how it effects them in their developmental stages. How we can identify? How we can help? Normal adolescents development is characterized by a mismatch between fundamental drives and self regulatory skills that manifest as difficulties with expressing thoughts and feelings. Understanding another’s point of view and predicting consequences of ones actions. This explains why bullying occurs most often in late primary school and early high school, when this mismatch peaks. Although, bullying can be minimized it is unlikely that bullying can be entirely eliminated. Bullying has long been perceived as an inescapable part of growing up, recent American survey shows that children aged 8-15 years rate bullying as a big problem than racism or even peer pressure to have sex, use alcohol, and other drugs. Young people with serious psychological problems might occur problems related to attention, behavior, and emotional regulation which interfere with their ability to learn. A study from the United States of America, also found that the attackers in more than...

Winning Is Not the Most Important Thing in Life

...“Winning is not the most important thing in life – it’s everything.” Do you agree? LOA: Winning should merely remain a constantly-refined target that keeps changing after being achieved, not to be overly obsessed over at the expense of forgoing other important aspects, such as morals. Topic sentence 1: Indeed, winning seems to be the equation to maximizing satisfaction in life because of its merits. Pt 1: Only winners are remembered, not losers. E.g: Most people only remember victorious sportsmen and teams. People only remember Usain Bolt for winning his Olympic Gold Medal the 2012 Summer Olympics, but not many can recall that Yohan Blake, a fellow Jamaican, won the silver medal. Pt 2: The accolades and prizes won give people instant gratification and more importantly, recognition for their hardwork. E.g: Cristiano Ronaldo finally won his first Ballon d’Or after years of effort in 2013 and he was seen in tears while clutching on to his prize – a testament to how gratifying he felt for receiving it. Topic sentence 2: Winning is Hobson’s Choice when high stakes are involved. e.g: Singapore and other nations which lack in natural resources have to compete on the global scale via innovation and efficiency to sustain their countries’ progress. Any platform lost might be detrimental to the development of the country, in terms of financial costs and reputation tarnished. E.g On a micro level, students and companies fight over tooth and nail to achieve their desired......

Three Things I Value Most

...sometimes, but you must possess the belief in yourself to allow those instincts to shine through and the confidence to act upon them. Which leads me to point #2… Live confidently: We all know someone that lives life with confidence. Can you picture him or her? In the most trying situations they can be calm, cool and collected. And their presence is powerful, yet not overbearing. They’re unwavering in their principles and their actions are consistent in every situation. People respect a person who lives with confidence. And you should strive to reflect a similar demeanour. Keep in mind: The difference between confidence and arrogance is a subtle, but important, one. No one likes a person who is pompous and can’t admit when they’re wrong. So, live confidently but sprinkle in a dash of humility. You will be surprised how far that will take you. ALWAYS have fun: This is, by far, the most important thing to remember in life. The moment you stop having fun is the moment you stop living. People who live life without having look as miserable as they feel. I don’t want that to be me, and I don’t want that to be you. This may be an oversimplified version of how I live my life, but these are three of the things I value the most and anytime anyone sees me, I should be an example of each of them. If I’m not, feel free to send me back to this post to knock a little sense into me because no matter how much we think we know, everyone needs a little reminder sometimes....

Why Shoes Are the Most Important Thing (to Me)

...If you were to ask me what’s the first thing I notice about a person, it wouldn’t be their eyes. It wouldn’t be their hair. It wouldn’t even be their face. Nor would it be their personality. It would be their shoes. It’s not because I’m looking down a lot. Or maybe it is. I do look down a lot. I get shy. But I’ve always been a firm believer in that shoes are the pathway to the soul. Hold your laughter. Shoes tell me a lot about a person. And no, they don’t just tell me the superficial things. Yes, if the shoes are trendy, you’re probably a trendy person. But maybe they’re a bit beat up. No, it doesn’t mean you’re beat up. Maybe you just like adventure more than fashion. Maybe you wear flip flops in November. Maybe you wear Uggs in July. I will judge you for that. I will wonder about your sanity. Maybe you wear 4 inch heels walking up the university steps. Maybe you wear beat up Converse down the aisle to the tune of ‘Here Comes The Bride’. Or maybe you’re like me and you wear a different pair of shoes every day. Why yes, I do have a problem. But this post isn’t about me. If you’re wearing running shoes when you’re not running, I think of you as the wannabe athlete. Or maybe sports are your life. It’s all you think about so why would you need any other pairs of shoes? If you’re wearing Hunters, I might want to be your friend. After all, us rain boot girls gotta stick together. If you’re wearing $500 leather boots, I applaud your wallet and your ability to realize that life is......

Why Is Apple One of the Most Valuable Companies in the World

...crying and his parents reassured him by saying ‘We specifically picked you out’. Job’s dad always tried to get his son into cars, which was his personal passion, but Jobs was never interested. Instead, his dad provided him with small, broken electronic gismos, which he took apart. Jobs always considered himself lucky to be growing up in Santa Clara Valley, a place where there were many other engineers and people who shared his interests. Jobs once called Bill Hewlett the founder of a rapidly growing company, HP. They talked for at least twenty minutes on the phone and by the end of the call, Jobs had secured a summer job and Bill said he would give him some spare parts to tinker with. In the war, Jobs’ dad was a coast guard. The ironic thing was, he could never swim. After the conflict, he wanted to find a wife and settle down in a house. Paul Jobs was an engineer at the time and mainly focused on fixing cars up. He was always a good bargainer at the counter because he knew what the part should really cost. He once saw a real estate agent making a fortune and he didn’t look that bright. He went into the nearest estate agent centre, applied for the job and completed all the mandatory assessments with ease. However, he fell to the bottom of the market and the family fell into a financial crisis for about a year. He eventually went back to what he knew. By thirteen, Jobs had stopped going to church. He asked the pastor if God knew people were starving in Africa. When......

What Is the Most Important Thing to Survive a Disaster?

...What Is The Most Important Thing To Survive A Disaster? ‘The End is Near’ – While this short but somewhat perturbing phrase might have become a common sight since the Mayan prediction of 2012, reactions to it vary from one person to another. However, deep down, everyone realizes that it could indeed be the grave truth and naturally feel apprehensive. In such a situation, the next sensible step is to acquire training in survival skills and make adequate preparations should disaster strike sooner than expected. Given the fact that ‘End’ could arrive in various ways – an explosion, a natural disaster or an accident being some of the possibilities – the onus is on you to grasp the situation and swing into action swiftly and logically. Ensuring survival is the main objective and for fulfillment of this goal, presence of one factor, namely the will and determination to survive followed by resilience, is a must. True though it is that your training will teach you what to do in the event of a disaster and how to organize things around you, first and foremost it is imperative to maintain clarity of thought and resisting panic attacks. Panic is the first reaction that most humans exhibit when faced with a disaster irrespective of its magnitude and it does take plenty of fortitude to overcome this emotion but it must be done. Letting panic sweep over your thoughts would not just cloud your judgment but also plunge you into the depths of despair wherein the temptation to give up......

The Most Important Thing in My Life

...The Most Important Thing In My Life When I need someone to laugh and have fun with — someone to learn from; or just someone to talk to — I have my whole family with me to do so. I know that my mom, my dad, my sister, and my brother will always be there for me when I need someone to be with when I’m not feeling like myself — and I know they will be patient and try to empathize with what I might be feeling. I believe that family is the most important thing in one’s life. My brother helps me to have fun, my sister listens to what I have to say, my mom teaches me to be patient, and my dad tells me to be curious and open-minded. I take in all of this and think how lucky I am. My dad always tells my brother, my sister, and me that family is most important, and that family should always come first before others. His belief influenced me greatly. What he says makes me stop and think. My dad and my mom have family overseas, hundreds and hundreds of miles away in Cambodia. My dad has been without his biological mother and siblings for about thirty-four years, since the separation during when the Khmer Rouge was taking over Cambodia from 1975-1979. In 2004, we all went to Cambodia to visit the rest of my family, who I barely knew. I try to empathize with what it would be like without my little brother, my sister, and my parents, but all the same, it was very hard to imagine. This experience of taking a moment to empathize with what it would be like in some else’s shoes, made me look...

Why Is South Korea the Most Influent Country in the World ?

...South Korea will soon be the most influent country in the world ?”. Through different themes, I’m going to answer to this question again. However, I would like to remind you what the market is. It comes from the verb “to market”. It’s a process of communicating the value of a product or service to consumers, for the purpose of selling that product or service. In my own words, I think the marketing is a market study where people need to find a new product, with its promotion and price and where selling the product is the main goal. To make benefits is the main goal. So, South Korea is a country in East Asia. More than 50 million people live in South Korea. Its surname is “Asian Tiger”. In terms of gross domestic product which is the total amount of goods and value produced in a country each year, South Korea ranks 15th in the world. It is one of the most industrialised country. The south Korean economy is very special because before the sixties, it was one of the poorest country in the world. An employee only gained about 260 dollars a year while today, south Korean have an income of 20 000 dollars a year. Before 2000, S.Korea had an inflation of almost 10% while the average inflation is 2%. It is one of the few countries that were able to avoid a recession. Nowadays, nobody can stop this fast-growing country. The south Korean economy relies mainly on the international trade. In 2010, the Asian tiger was the sixth largest exporter in the world. Each south-korean......

Love Calls Us to the Things of This World

...“Love Calls Us to the Things of This World” Richard Wilbur Richard Wilbur’s poem, “Love Calls Us to the Things of This World” is about the first moments of the morning when we are between the state of being asleep and being awake. That moment when we aren’t burden with the outside world and still on the outskirts of reality, engulfed in a worry free peaceful zone. As the sleeper is in his peaceful state, the window is open and he hears the “cry of the pulleys” as laundry is being hung and what I envisioned also was him hearing the flapping of the laundry because he says “The morning air is all awash with angles”. That maybe the flapping laundry instead of awakening him even more, reminds him of the flapping wings of an Angel. As the sleeper is in the world of the Angels and harmony, consciousness eventually wins and the sleeper is now aware that it is just laundry flapping in the wind and nothing more. The soul is now descended back into it body and daily life. One then wonders why we would want to wake up from this blissful state of being and the answer to that I believe is love. Just like the title says “Love Calls Us to the Things of This World”. We do things for love and that is why the sleeper leaves the peaceful wondrous state and awakens to a new day. “Love Calls Us to the Things of this World” shows us how different the spiritual world and the real world can be. The man then goes to describe the thieves in the gallows should have clean linens for their......
