Sales Sometimes people shy away from sales jobs because of the fact that sometimes it can be difficult because sometimes salesmen only get profit of off commissions. Sales often get a lot of heat for using shady tactics and unfair practices just to make a sale. They often are pushy and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Some salesmen make a lot of profit through sales if they are skilled enough. They often have people selling their products and services for them. I have some background in sales and I will be writing about my sales jobs for 2 companies that I worked for. I will also be writing about the pros and cons of being a door to door salesman or a telephone salesman. The first sales job I had was for a company that sells a wide array of products. You often would sell flashlights to toy trucks to pocket knives. They would give us a box full of merchandise and they would set up in a street that has heavy foot traffic and we would go to work by selling our merchandise to the people who we were able to stop and get their attention. This often took some skills so I opened them by saying a joke and it would go something like hello mam or sir you dropped your pockets then I would say just kidding then I would begin my pitch to sell them my item which was a toy truck. It was Christmas time when we were doing this so people were eager to buy. Their business model was for every 10 people you ask, at least one person would say yes to you as you make a sale. The way that you got paid was similar to that of a pyramid scheme and I was making pretty decent money. As the holidays were over I quit the job because it became harder to sell random products on the street to people. The second sales job I had was for a company called commerce energy. I was a core transport agent and my job was to convert people’s gas service from pg&e to commerce energy and the way I did…...
