The universality of management concept is a concept that acknowledges the fat that management is necessary for all sizes and types of organizations. Not only is this the case, but it also applies to all organizational levels and areas, regardless of where the organizations are located.
This concept still holds true in today’s world because all organizations must plan, organize, lead, and control well in order to be successful and continue to exist. As such, some levels of management are required to fulfill these roles.

Although some have argued that business management should be a profession for a few reasons, mostly citing benefits and positive impacts it would yield for society by way of accountability (i.e., if management were to become a true profession it would have to develop codes of conduct with the meaning and consequences of those codes taught as part of the formal educational process for its members; which would officially lead to accountability.)
However, the reality is that business management is not a profession today because unlike doctors and lawyers (recognized as holding a professional degree) managers do not adhere to universal and enforceable codes of conduct. For example, while law students are required to take, pass the BAR association exam (recognized as the standard by the entire country) and remain in good standing as defined the BAR association in order to keep one’s license to practice, business schools are not able to definitively claim what they teach qualifies students to manage. Coaching targets high performance and improvement at work and usually focuses on specific skills and goals, although it may also have an impact on an individual’s personal attributes. I have outlined a brief description of 2 coaching models GROW and OSCAR in Appendix 1. There are a variety of different types of coaching available and I have identified 2 specific types, Coaching for Talent Development and Coaching through Change and explained what they are and in what type of work situation they could be used in Appendix 2 . There are also different styles to coaching. Non-directive coaching is coaching in the true sense of the word where the coach simply asks you questions to allow you to find your own solutions. A non-directive coach will certainly not offer you advice and rarely even give you suggestions, although through skillful questioning they will help you to see your situation from a different perspective, gain clarity, uncover options, challenge inconsistencies and hold you accountable to your actions. Such tasks were comparable in complexity to traditional pencil and paper mathematics tasks, were teacher directed and anticipated correct answers with narrow solution strategies. In other words, while technology was being used in many classrooms, its potential to promote student thinking was being greatly underutilized. However, in the case of Seylan Bank, aggressive expansion, both in terms of business volumes as well as physical infrastructure - opening branches, expanding the ATM network, building new premises, etc. - had exerted tremendous pressure on the limited amount of capital available. Within five years of the Bank’s founding, its gearing ratio (the degree of leverage required to finance operations, calculated as total assets divided by total shareholders’ funds) shot up past 29 times.
