Education in the Philippines is managed and regulated by the Department of Education, commonly referred to as the DepEd in the country. The Department of Education controls the Philippine education system, including the curriculum used in schools and the allocation of funds. It also regulates the construction of schools and other educational facilities and the recruitment of teachers and staff.

I am very keen to be with you this morning as education has always been of outmost importance among my advocacies. In fact, what kept me and inspired me to continue being in public service was the passage into law of a bill I filed when I was a freshman congressman. Wala akong kaalam-alam sa pulitika. Kapapasok ko pa lang sa Kongreso bilang kinatawan ng Capiz. Napuna ko na ang mga kongresista ay pumipila doon sa DepEd para humingi ng classrooms para sa kanilang mga lalawigan. Tinatanong ko ang mga nakakatanda sa akin doon sa kongreso, “Bakit tayo pumipila?Bakit hindi ba pinamimigay lang iyan, edukasyon namn iyan?Bakit kailangan na magsipsip pa doon sa kinauukulang ahensya?” Ang sagot sa akin, “Bata ka pa Mar, hindi mo pa alam ito, idealist ka pero kailangan talaga dahil itong mga classrooms na ito pinamimigay ito batay sa pulitika, kung close ka, kaalyado ka, o karelihiyon ka ng mga nakaupo sa DepEd. “ Nagkamot ako ng ulo sabi ko, “ May lugar naman para sa pulitika. Pero hindi dapat, na ang edukasyon n gating mga kabataan, hindi dapat, na ang pagkakataon na makatatanggap ng isang classroom para makapasok an gating mga kabataan ay magmumula sa konsiderasyon para lamang magkaroon ng classroom sa ating mga lalawigan?”

Social dimensions in are classroom are fostered by developing class norms and building relationships, which is basically making your classroom a safe haven for your students to express themselves. Developing class norms are not something that should just be used in the first weeks of class, but carried out throughout the year. To implement these into yur classtroom you have to create that atmosphere and that would first start by making sure that all of your students are comfortable with each other. A multiplicity of issues was anticipated in the beginning as this was a group assignment. Typically, group assignments can be challenging due to the varying opinions of the group’s membership. One group member quickly assumed the leadership role and created a rotating schedule. The schedule allows each person to tackle a different facet of the standards each week.
