...Jones Electrical Distribution Electric Suppliers Finance Essay Introduction Jones Electrical Distribution is an Electrical company which has predicted that sales for the company will increase. However, over the years the company has experienced some difficulties in its cash flow and decided that in order to keep the company in operation, it was evident that additional financing would be needed in the form of a loan. However, the loan limit for borrowing could not have exceeded $250,000.00. This amount was the maximum limit their local bank, Metropolitan would offer to any company. It must be pointed out that from the inception of Jones Electrical, Metropolitan Bank was the only financial provider used by the company. In light of the foregoing, Jones had to seek alternative financial assistance from another bank - Southern Bank and Trust. The credit line offered Jones Electrical a loan would be in the amount of $350,000.00, $100,000.00 more than what Metropolitan would have offered. Jones Electrical needed to decide which loan will be more beneficial, less risky and the least expensive for the company. They needed to consider the proposition of receiving the loan from Southern Bank Trust as opposed to remaining with Metropolitan Bank. Another issue arising from the case is the way in which Jones Electrical did its operations. He had over 100 suppliers from which he credited inventory, and he paid his accounts within the 10-day period in order to benefit from a 2% trade......

Abstract The subject of electrical hazards analysis has been recognized by a small segment of the electrical industry for many years. The petrochemical industry and many government institutions have performed research on this subject for over twenty years. For the most part however, the electrical industry, at least at the user level, has largely ignored the subject, essentially reacting to catastrophic accidents, rather than proactively trying to predict and prevent them. Recent changes in consensus standards, along with a better general understanding of the seriousness of electrical hazards have resulted in a renewal of interest in the subject. As the awareness of electrical hazards increase many are puzzled by phrases like; “Limited”, “Restricted”, and “Prohibited......

Westover Electrical

...PGMT 723 Quality Assignment   Westover Electrical, Inc. Westover Electrical, Inc., is a medium-size Houston manufacturer of wire windings used in making electric motors. Joe Wilson, VP operations, has experienced an increasing problem with rejected product found during the manufacturing operation. "I’m not sure where to begin," admitted Joe at the weekly meeting with his boss. "Rejects in the Winding Department have been killing us the past two months. Nobody in operations has any idea why. I have just brought in a consultant, Roger Gagnon, to take a look at the situation and make recommendations about how we can find out what is going on. I don’t expect Roger to make technical recommendations–just see if he can point us in the right direction." Gagnon’s first stop later that day was the production floor. His discussions with the production supervisors in the Winding Department indicated that they had no real grasp of what the problem was or what to do to correct it. A tour of the winding operation indicated that there were three machines that wound wire onto plastic cores to produce the primary and secondary electric motor windings. After inspection by quality control (QC), these windings then went to the Packaging Department. Packaging personnel, Gagnon found, inspect their own work and make corrections on the spot. The problem is that too many windings are found to be defective and require reworking before they can be packaged. Gagnon’s next stop was the Quality......

...ELECTRICAL SAFETY Safety in the workplace is job number one for employer and employee. It is especially important for those who install and service electrical system. Electrical safety defines as “Recognizing hazards associated with the use of electrical energy and taking precautions so that hazards do not produce injury or death”. Nothing can replace a worker or loved one that has died or suffered their reparable consequences of an electrical accident. Government statistics shows that electricity cause more than 20,000 fire a year, almost half of all accidental UK house fire. Each year, about 70 people are killed and 350,000 are seriously injured due to an electrical accident in the UK. Modern living has meant we use more and more electrical appliances in the home. For instance, just 20 years ago the average uk home had a hi-fi system and one TV whereas today it is more likely that there are at least two TVs, games console, microwave and computer.so that risk of electricity accidents in the homes are more higher than before. It has seen in the UK that there are lots of people drying their cloths on electrical heater. This is particularly dangerous and could cause electric shock or fire. Heater have ventilation slots to prevent overheating. If this slots are covered up, the appliance could over heat and catch fire. Many time people are drilling the wall to fix nail without knowing......

Jones Electrical

...Current Position Jones Electrical Distribution (hereinafter Jones Electric) is currently facing an issue with cash flows, which will ultimately affect the overall profitability and growth potential for the company. The owner, Nelson Jones, is diligent in paying his suppliers within ten days in order to capitalize on a two percent early pay discount, but in doing so, has over-extended cash flows. Though the company has been profitable and growing over the past three years, its current lender, Metropolitan Bank, will not increase a line of credit (LOC) beyond $250,000, a LOC upon which Jones has recently fully drawn. In order to ease the tensions of depleting cash reserves, Jones is seeking a higher LOC from another lender, Southern Bank & Trust (SB&T). A higher LOC will not only cover overhead expenses and take advantage of early pay discounts, but could also be invested in the continued growth of sales, as well as, potentially opening new locations. After weighing his options, Jones is convinced that he has to take on more debt in order to keep the business moving forward. Thus far, Jones is only contemplating one financing option, a higher LOC from SB&T. The terms of LOC are not favorable when weighed against Jones’s objective to grow the business. SB&T will limit the drawable amount, control investments in fixed assets, and control Jones’s withdrawal of funds from the business. As such, Jones needs to reconsider SB&T’s offer and consider other financing......

Electrical Power

...Electrical Power Assignment 1 Task 3 – Q4 3 Phase Transformer Construction Diagram Description As shown in the diagram above, a three phase has three sets of iron cores instead of the one of a single phase transformer. Each ‘leg’ of the transformer has its own primary and secondary windings. Each primary winding will have the same amount of coils as will each secondary winding. The three primary windings (shown above as P1, P2 and P3) and the secondary windings (shown above as S1, S2 and S3) can be connected in either a star or delta arrangement to give a required output. Also the output could be wired in a zigzag arrangement for special purposes where a phase shift of 30° is required. Core Types There are a few different types of core that are used in transformers, some are described below: Solid Cores Solid cores are just made of solid iron and are used in circuits such as switch mode power supplies which operate above mains frequencies and even up to a few kHz. The materials used in these cores combine high magnetic permeability with high electrical resistivity. Laminated Steel Cores These cores are made from layers of high permeability silicon steel and are usually used at power and audio frequencies. They are used because in a solid core at high frequencies ‘eddy currents’ are formed. The laminations confine eddy currents inside each lamination and so decrease the losses. Air Cores An air core is simply a transformer without any core......

...response test was conducted only for Optical CT to show the capability of the Optical CT in measuring DC current. The result show us the proved by delaying the current impulse only by 40(s. Magnetic CT was unable to measure the DC current and it gives an advantage to the utility sector to utilize the benefit of installing the Optical CT in the substation. At last, the temperature performance of Optical CT was analyzed by increasing the sensor head temperature by mean of electrical heater. The result shows that the temperature will not affect the performance of both Optical and Magnetic CT. The last experiment is regarding the Top Oil Temperature (TOT) and Hot Spot Temperature (HST) modeling of oil-filled CT. It can be conclude that the model of TOT and HST has been successfully design to measure of TOT and HST of CT. This online monitoring may not be practical but the data extracted from this experiment will be useful in the future offline analysis of CT’s temperature measurement. CHAPTER 4 SUMMARY The Optical CT provide more advantages for the application in power system industries. From the experiment conducted, the Optical CT compared to Magnetic CT has a better accuracy in measuring steady state performance and the sine wave of Optical CT during transient and switching performance is not distorted and the transient current reached the steady state after three cycles. It also provide the capability in measuring DC current compared to Magnetic CT.......
