In the beginning, I would like to explain the major problem that is associated with economy in the whole world which is scarcity. We know that humans are greedy and they always want more of everything, so that is why we have the problem of not having enough resources to all people. Firms try to satisfy their customers by thinking of strategies that can make their customers satisfied and to stay competitive in the market. Looking from this perspective, I would like to introduce my topic about Firms Strategies to Stay Competitive in the marketplace. Firms can remain competitive through a lot of planned strategies. Being a competitor in the market requires constant monitoring of the situation and the events that are taking place. To stay profitable, the firm must have strategies available that it serves to stay competitive in the marketplace. Competitive strategy, after Porter, came to be defined as the strategy of a business unit which seeks to achieve sustainable Competitive Advantage (SCA). From the articles describing various theories of a firm’s performance, there are a few common themes and a few minor differences focusing on definitions. In viewing the articles, we find that all of the authors state that the primary difference in performance of firms is the management of internal resources. While the resource perspective varies among the different articles, the unifying themes are: the optimum utilization of resources drives above normal performance, utilization of resources would adapt to changing environments, and a unified strategy must exist to manage the resources.
