PERCEPTION
– is the process through which people receive,organize,and interpret information from environment. * Psychological Contracts -is the set of individual expectations about the employment relationship. * Perception and Attribution
Attrubution -is the process of explaining events.
Attribution error -overestimates internal factors and underestimates external factors as influences on someone’s behavior.
Self serving bias-explains personal success by internal causes and personal failures by external causes. * Perceptual tendencies and distortions * Stereotypes -occurs when attributes commonly associated with group are assigned to an individual. * Halo effects -occurs when one attribute is used to develop an overall impression of a person or situation. * Selective Perception -is the tendency to define problems from one’s own point of view. * Projection -is the assignment of personal attributes to other individuals.

"The humanistic perspective values the integrity of each individual" (Editorial Board, 2011). It is believed that you could lose yourself because you become preoccupied with the notion of gaining acceptance from others. When you, as a person, are so consumed with being accepted, you tend to mold yourself and become something and someone that you are not. "The Humanistic perspective saw humans as being intentional, that they seek to have a sense of purpose and value" (Career Education Corporation, 2010). One of the therapeutic methods practiced amongst Humanistic psychologists is client-centered therapy, which focused on the client's capability to guide their own improvement and understand their development. Another therapy practiced under this perspective is Gestalt therapy which centered on discovering how the past has affected a client's present. Role play is a part of this therapy and is done so that the client can freely express their true feelings that otherwise may have been hidden. Anyone who is familiar with psychology has heard of Sigmund Freud, who founded the Psychodynamic theory. This was known as the 'anti-science' theory. Without these connections people would be able to better protect themselves from harm, but they would also be lost. In chapter four of the novel Connected the authors discuss the connections that are directly and indirectly made by people. Different situations such as, the passing of STDs, behavior while eating, smoking and drinking, and contagious suicide are examples have the ability to be both directly and indirectly connected. One harmless connection can cause a chain reaction, and before long many more people are involved. A connection between two people may seem insignificant; however, these connections cause others to experience similar situations. Connections in Sexual Relations Sexual relations are a form of connection. One person may have relations with one person, who has relations with another person, and so on. This type of connection is an indirect connection, meaning a couple’s friends’ friends’ friend can affect the original couple. STD’s are spread indirectly through a community. Supposing that couples follow the no-partner-swapping rule then theoretically, a person could contract an STD from another person through five connections.
