Accounting Standards

...Will there be one set of accounting standards in use throughout the world in the next five years? As American companies continue to expand their businesses abroad, the need for a single set of accounting standards is growing. Currently there are about 12,000 companies that are operating in more than 100 countries, each of which requires their financial statements to be reported under the same guidelines and standards. All of these countries abide by the International Financial Reporting Standards, making it easier for companies abroad to have financial cohesion. Unfortunately the United States has yet to adjust their financial standards, but many feel this necessary change is coming. Signs of a possible change arose when the SEC approved the use of International Financial Reporting Standards by non-U.S. registrants as long as they included reconciliation between the IFRS and the U.S. GAAP standards. Further signs of change arose when the SEC dropped this reconciliation requirement only a year after enacting it. As the SEC is noticing, the need for a uniform financial standard is not only growing but it is a necessary change as there is many advantages to having one set of accounting standards. One of these advantages is that having one global set of accounting standards will eliminate the costs of preparing multiple financial statements under various standards. Another advantage is that this will also reduce the need for multiple audit opinions that multinational......

...created to work and write standards and are open to anyone to participate. They strive for broad representation of all interested parties and encourage global participation. IEEE standards have a comprehensive listing of working groups but not all have public viewable websites. I will focus on the Information Technology working group with the sub-directory of Software and Systems Engineering. The IEEE Computer Society is the largest association for computer professionals in the world and was founded more than 50 years ago. The Software and Systems Engineering Group/Committee mission is to develop and maintain a family of software and systems engineering standards that are relevant, coherent, comprehensive and effective in use. These standards are developed for use by practitioners, organizations, and educators to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their software engineering processes, and also to improve communications between acquirers and suppliers and the quality of delivered software and systems containing software. They also work to support and promote a Software Engineering Body of Knowledge, certification mechanisms for software engineering professionals, and other products contributing to the profession of software engineering. Justification of IEEE 802 standard used in networking Looking from the outside it looks simple to connect computers through networks. But with everything in life, there should be rules and standards to follow. One such......

...Chapter 4: Feasibility of Proposed Standards CHAPTER 4: Feasibility of Proposed Standards Section 213(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act presents statutory criteria that EPA must evaluate in determining standards for nonroad engines and vehicles. The standards must "achieve the greatest degree of emission reduction achievable through the application of technology which the Administrator determines will be available for the engines or vehicles to which such standards apply, giving appropriate consideration to the cost of applying such technology within the period of time available to manufacturers and to noise, energy, and safety factors associated with the application of such technology." This chapter presents the technical analyses and information that form the basis of EPA's belief that the proposed emission standards are technically achievable accounting for all the above factors. 4.1 CI Recreational Marine The proposed emission standards CI recreational marine engines are summarized in the Executive Summary. We believe that manufacturers will be able to meet these standards using technology similar to that required for the commercial marine engine standards. This section discusses technology currently used on CI recreational marine engines and anticipated technology to meet the proposed standards. In addition, this section discusses the emission test procedures and not-to-exceed requirements. 4.1.1 Baseline Technology for CI Recreational Marine Engines We developed......

The primary purpose of the NMC is protection of the public. It does this through maintaining a register of all nurses, midwives and specialist community public health nurses eligible to practise within the UK and by setting standards for their education, training and conduct. One of the most important ways of serving the public interest is through providing advice and guidance to registrants on professional issues. The purpose of this booklet is to set standards for safe practice in the management and administration of medicines by registered nurses, midwives and specialist community public health...

Standards Complying with It

...Important to comply with standards On October 14, 2014 I Micheal clay did not comply with standards during physical training. Standards are published documents that establish specifications and procedures designed to ensure the reliability of the materials, products, methods, and or services people use every day. Standards form the fundamental building blocks for product development by establishing consistent protocols that can be universally understood and adopted. This helps fuel compatibility, abilities and simplifies product development, and speeds time-to-market. Standards also make it easier to understand and compare competing products. As standards are globally adopted and applied in many markets, they also fuel international trade. Standards is a system to identify, develop, acquire, evaluate, disseminate, and provide access to applicable standards, codes, regulations, and laws that affect process safety.  The standards system addresses both internal and external standards; national and international codes and standards; and local, state, and federal regulations and laws. Knowledge of and conformance to standards helps a company operate and maintain a safe facility, consistently implement process safety practices, and minimize legal liability. Changes in standards may occur at irregular intervals or on a fixed schedule, and the standards system must keep up with such changes so the company can adjust its compliance activities. The standards system also......

Solutions to Grooming Teens for Adulthood

...Solutions to Grooming Teens for Adulthood Reasoning and Problem Solving CST 1 November 30, 2009 To solve a problem one must often dive beneath the surface of the reflected obvious to reveal the rest of the issue hidden in the depths below. In Task one for this course the question of what is the best way to prepare teen’s for a successful adulthood has been addressed through several viewpoints and approaches. Just as there are multiple approaches in rearing children, there does not appear to be a single solution to the problem. Upon investigation it quickly becomes apparent that various groups can look at the same issue and will ultimately form different solutions that reflect their own skew on the problem. A closer look at example solution’s utilizing life skills through school settings, community resources, and Socratic home environments will demonstrate this concept. As an educator I believe that preparation is gleaned through understanding and understanding is gleaned from education. My solution would involve taking an active approach in educating the future educator by preparing the young to facilitate life skills for themselves and their own children one day. Equipping children with life applications of what they potentially will face as an adult is much like training a soldier for battle. Our county does not expect our military personnel to enlist and not receive training for what they will expect to encounter. Our children should not...

Accounting Standards

...Accounting Standards Boards Paper Jacobian Stephens ACC/541 June 29, 2015 Mrs. JoEtta Malone Accounting Standards Boards Paper The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) started the Convergence program back in 2002 and stated that a three-part strategy for seeking greater comparability in accounting standards internationally should be implemented.. FASB sought out to develop a higher quality for Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and improve the relations and communication with additional nationwide standards setters. The convergence program is to help increase the quality of recording standards. FASB and IASB recognized that increasing the comparability of principles will not be as easy as they thought. To do so, they will need the help of setters around the world to have an agreement amongst the standards. We also have to remember that FASB priority is to improve financial reporting. Doing so will help investors. Eliminate any other alterations between IFRSs and U. S. GAAP that may remain on January 1, 2005 by undertaking projects that both Boards would address simultaneously. Carry on the progress on the joint projects presently proceeding. Inspire their consistent interpretative bodies to organize their activities. FASB has been the nominated union in the private division for generating standards of financial bookkeeping that administer the training of financial reports by non-governmental entities. To improve and establish......

...Running head: UNWRAPPING ISLLC STANDARD NUMBER Unwrapping ISLLC Standard Number 1 Myka N. Walker Grand Canyon University: EDA 534 January 11, 2012 The initial collaborative learning community assignment was the unwrapping of ISLLC standard number one. A multiplicity of issues was anticipated in the beginning as this was a group assignment. Typically, group assignments can be challenging due to the varying opinions of the group’s membership. In reality, only two problems arose during the unwrapping process. The first problem surfaced in the beginning of the week. Several members of the group were unsure of how to complete the assignment. A discussion took place and each member contributed thoughts about what the assignment required and how it should be completed. The second problem was the division of work. Each of the ISLLC standards consists of four facets: knowledge, skills, enduring understandings and essential questions. There are five members in the yellow group. One group member quickly assumed the leadership role and created a rotating schedule. The schedule allows each person to tackle a different facet of the standards each week. The schedule also allows each person to compile the assignments and submit them. This was a very equitable way to split the work and all group members agreed to follow the schedule. The unwrapping of the ISLLC standards is a valuable process for any future principal. If the standards are going to be......
