If you love Call of Duty then keep watching and give me some feedback!

My Way to a Better Life

...My Way to a Better Life Tish Hessig Skills for Professional Development Elaine Shilling, Ph.D. March 12, 2005 My Way to a Better Life How many of us settle for the easy way out? This is a question that I have been asking myself for many years now with regard to my career. Over the last year I have been thinking about my life a lot; where I am, where I have been and where I am going. I have discovered that I settled for my current career as an administrative assistant because it was the easiest decision for me. I am realizing now that being back in school will change my life. I am completing the work necessary to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and I still need to learn what I will gain with my college education. How will my life and my daughter’s life change and how will my professional career change once I have earned my college degree? In my present career, a college education will allow me many advantages such as increased earnings, an improved quality of life, more challenging positions to learn and grow, an opportunity to be a member of the management team, and I will be able to mentor others on the importance of a college education. Twenty years ago when I was finishing high school, the only requirement to getting a job was a high school diploma. Today in order to get that same job, we are required to have a college degree. Even though it was not necessary for me to have a college education, I enrolled in the local......

Michel and His Love for Life

...Michel and his Love for life The evening was overcast with gray and darkened clouds. The cold and chilly wind coupled with the occasional thunder gave signs of an unrelenting storm. The cafe was quietly busy with few customers, some whom were queuing patiently for their orders and some nestled themselves comfortably on the couch minding their time. The time was ten minutes passed the appointed hour and Michel was nowhere in sight. The rain erupted shortly into a heavy downpour and unexpectedly, the glass panels of the doors was gently pushed and Michel made his appearance. Michel, whom turned twenty last June, stands at roughly 1.75 meters and has fair brown complexion. He approached in a cool and relaxed pace, that he was always accustomed to and appeared rather excited despite the gloominess outside. He physically appeared more athletic, with broader shoulders, a slightly muscular triceps and a leaner chest. His smile was his greatest asset as he has used it gratuitously to amend many setbacks. He was polite and conscious as he took a moment to greet before taking his place. His round face appeared full, fresh and smooth, his deep and dark, brooding eyes remained as gleefully as ever as his lips shaped into a thin half-smile. He had short straight black hair parted on the sides which glimmered every time it touches the light. He took a moment to sigh and slowly, he sank further into the cushion. He speaks with a flagrant and robust command of the English language. His......

Breastfeeding – a Way to a Healthy Life

...Breastfeeding – no introduction necessary The focus of this review paper is on presenting and substantiating common knowledge and beliefs with scientific research and facts to demonstrate the advantages of breast milk feeding in early stages of human life and in years that follow. Discussion of non-scientific, i.e. social, economic, etc., aspects of breastfeeding will be limited, with primary focus given to human health outcomes for infants and mothers. The structure of this paper is decisively unconventional: where the author has chosen to discuss the body of common knowledge about breastfeeding before delving into the scientific research review. The intention is to draw the readers’ attention to the vast body of proven and observed advantages of breastfeeding for infant and mothers. Breastfeeding advantages – more than just food Breastfeeding is a natural process. Throughout human history breastfeeding was, and in many places around the world still is, a means to a healthy start to a human life. With the development of baby formula, and its availability, and relatively low cost, breastfeeding is now commonly thought to be a choice in the developed world. No longer a means to survival, no longer a requirement. To some, the advent of the baby formula is a direct form of feminine liberation. To others, baby formula is a necessity for medical or circumstantial reasons that are not driven by the freedom of choice. Those that choose the formula under pretenses other than......

Ways of Life

...Research Paper Navajo ways of Knowing by Herbert John Benally Dominique Davenport College of New Rochelle Professor Davis Herbert John Benally lived in Sweetwater, Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation. While many members of his family have sought to preserve native traditions by following the path of medicine man, he has attempting to achieve the same goal through teaching and curriculum reform. Currently, he teaches courses in Navajo history, culture, and philosophy. In this essay Benally discusses the intimate connection between spirituality and knowledge in Navajo thinking. He describes four types of knowledge found in traditional Navajo thinking, “That which gives direction to life,” “sustenance,” “the gathering of family,” and “rest, contentment and respect for creation”. He explained why each of these types of sacred knowledge was associated with each part of the day. Benally argues that to achieve a harmonious life, we must focus on these four areas of knowledge and maintain a balance among them. In doing so, we will not only achieve harmony within the family and the human community, but we will also attain harmony between the human and the natural world. On other hand, failure to recognize the importance of each type of knowledge or to maintain a balance between them will produce dire consequences. As Benally says, “When we are not taught in this way, drawing on all four areas of knowledge, we become spiritually, emotionally, socially, and environmentally......

Threat to American Way of Life

...The threat America’s way of life is a quite questionable context to define. What I see here is a Catch 22, where we either allow immigrants and that changes America, or we don’t allow immigrants and that changes America. As John Isbister said, “The essence of American life is that it is composed of different groups, different cultures, races, religions, attitudes, folkways and ideologies, differences that give the country its distinctiveness. Current im-migration is sure to change the mixture, but change is not new; the cultural mixture of America has been changing continuously.” There is no auto defined definition to the American way of life, it is always changing whether we want it to or not. As Charon mentions, “Change occurs in every social organization, and it is ongoing and inevitable”. However, I do see this threat to be almost negligible, our biggest problem is within the racial conflictions of society adapting to a change. America has always been seen as a melting pot of cultures; however the melting pot concept is too vague to define. A melting pot means the society confirms to a new identity, however this is not such the case. The traditions are all varying and different outlooks still; we are not some culture defined as a mix of one pot, but rather a mix of many other pots. This correlates to Charon’s idea of the individual making a difference, “Attempts to influence society are countered by the power of long-standing social patterns that are normally defended by...

50 Cent and His Life

...cocked. "Sneaky motherfucker, man," 50 says. "He did it right. He just didn't finish." The man hit him with nine shots at close range. 50 took bullets in the hand ("shell hit my thumb and came out my pinky"), the hip ("that one hurt-hurt"), the calf and the chest, and one to the face went through his left cheek and into his mouth. "You don't actually feel each one hit you," he says. "The adrenaline is pumping. You movin' and tryin' to get out of the way. I was bouncing around the back seat. We pulled off. We got a block or so. We had to pull over to get rid of the tote [gun]. Threw it in the sewer, then we got to the hospital. But I was up and still talking the whole time." A few weeks later, the gunman was murdered. 50 denies responsibility. He spent 13 days in hospital, then staggered out on a walking frame. Six weeks later, he began walking on his own. Now life was more precious to him. He began working on his body with endless push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups. But, more importantly, there was now a large, squarish hole through the left side of his lower jaw and a piece of bullet in his tongue. He'd lost a bottom tooth and a U-shaped chunk of his gums, but his lazy tongue and the hole in his jaw gave him a slur like no one in hip-hop. "There's a different sound now when I talk, cos of the air around the tooth," 50 says. "Gettin' shot just totally fixed my instrument." The story of the shooting of 50 Cent spread throughout hip-hop and made him seem mythical, unkillable.......

Astronomy a Way of Life

...A Way Of Life "A way of life." Many people use this expression as a way to talk about their subsistence and how they perceive their everyday life. What they fail to recognize, however, is the fact that their way of living is connected in a much broader category than they think. Anthropologists study these categories broad, narrow, present, and past to try and find out what exactly a "way of life" was for individual cultures. By studying these cultures Anthropologists try and deduce different methods of survival. They have also discovered a few major social institutions that all cultures have a common bond together. These social institutions are the basis for which culture is founded. In order for a culture to become distinct from other cultures it has to apply different rules and change around these institutions. Anthropologists use these social institutional changes to understand the development of a culture and their way of being. They research these processes through fieldwork mostly. By using fieldwork as a means of research they can directly observe, interview, survey, and then analyze the situation. This gives them the advantage of seeing with their own eyes what happens within a culture. Fieldwork and the analysis of the fieldwork will be the basis on which this paper will investigate the social institution of subsistence and economics among a subgroup of our culture. One of the defining aspects of culture is subsistence. Through subsistence you......

The Way to Business

...Construction, Inc. was awarded the $8 million contract in December of 2010. Our contracting officer, John Blair was responsible for administering the contract and ensuring that we met the completion date of December 30, 2011. My company officially started the project on January 2, 2011. The project went well for a couple of months considering we had our occasional bad weather of snow, rain and high winds but we had more than enough time to complete the project. As time went on the contract started to experience a couple of bumps in the road in terms of minor delays which were caused by the government or shall I say our contracting officer John Blair. In May of 2011, John informed us that the project will be delayed because the paperwork on his end was not complete and for safety purposes needed to halt the project. I found this to be totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Four months into the project and the foundation has been laid along with three levels of the building having already been completed and he was now concerned about our safety. John did not provide us with a reasonable timeframe as to when the work will restart or if we will be given an extension for completion. He asked us to standby for a couple of weeks until he gets more information. This project is very important because my company’s resources are tied specifically to this contract and due to the uncertainty of completion it would be risky for me to take on other projects and possibly lack......

Payed for His Life

...Payed for His Life By: Usman Quddus Khan The sun glaring through the window woke me up. I got out of bed and got dressed. I proceeded into the kitchen where I ate cold cereal for breakfast, just like every morning for the past 3 years. It was time to go to work. I stepped outside and walked at a leisurely pace down Malcolm Ave. It was the best time of year for my line of work: the summer when all of the tourists came to New York. I got to the city square, and as usual, the very same cliques were there, and in numbers today. 'It looks to be a very good day,' I thought as I smiled to myself. I saw a white man in his late 30's. Guessed he looked kind of lost. 'Perfect,' I thought to myself. “Time to work.” I calmly and confidently stepped up to the man. "Hello, sir. Can I help you?" "Yes. I am looking for the Malcolm Hotel." "Yes, yes... Oh, okay. Go three blocks down, and take a right. It will be on your left. You can't miss it" "Thank you." "You're welcome. Have a good day sir." I walked away with not only a smile on my face, but with the man's wallet in my pocket. I opened it up to see 48 dollars, a Discover, and a MasterCard. A couple of hours and 4 wallets later, I decided to get lunch. So far, I had acquired 6 credit cards, 726 dollars, and several patent leather, hand-made Italian billfolds. I decided to go to my favourite place a little bistro called daVinci's. They have the best pizza. But then, I saw the man. He was about 6 feet tall, with a dark......

The Navajo Ways of Life

...Navajo Way of Life Kathleen E. St.Cyr ANT101 Jeffrey Ratcliffe July 16, 2012   Every culture has a primary mode of subsistence that makes them unique. Among the Navajo culture their primary mode of subsistence are pastoralists. Pastoralists have an impact on different aspects with in the culture. The aspects that I will be discussing will be the Navajo’s beliefs and values, sickness and healing, kinship, and their social organization. “Pastoralists are those who regularly move in search of naturally occurring grass and water.” (Nowak & Laird, 2010) Navajo’s are an Indian tribe that live on reservations and sometimes reside on public domains outside of the reservations. The Navajo nation is the largest reservation in North America. The Navajo tribe is the natives of what is called the Four Corners region that reside in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. Navajo’s call themselves Dineh, meaning “the people.” “Up until 1848, the land on which the Navajos lived had belonged to Mexico. The Navajos had to continually fight not only the Spanish, but also other Indian tribes in order to live on this land.” (Oracle ThinkQuest, The Navajo People) They continued this fight up until the 1850’s and 1860’s when Americans built Fort Defiance for the Navajo country, near what is now called Window Rock, Arizona. Only soon to be captured and killed by the Americans. After having to surrender and forced to walk 300 miles to Fort Sumner in eastern New Mexico and......
