A. Do you think the CEO handled this new system introduction appropriately?

Answer:
The last statement by the CEO “Well, it looks like I underestimated how much my staff cared about systems” sounds very strong from a CEO, but it does not infer that the CEO has come up with a fair and right solution. She either was very positive about her staff or very much disappointed.
Even though, she seemed to be confused after the hearing for the board and she was likely unaware of problems are currently disrupting the BigPharma Inc.

Nevertheless, the CEO was about the put the incorporation in an embarrassing situation as she was about to sign a contract with an enterprise system development company BigCoSoft which has a reputation in manufacturing but their financial status are at risk where BigCoSoft wanted to use BigPharma Inc reputation as a winning card.

Above all of that, CEO is supposed to handle the discussion in the meeting and ask questions rather than listening to VP, COO and everyone else in the room. She should have had enough information about the current enterprise and management systems and how good or bad are functioning rather than going about the current system cost and benefits to the Inc. that have had harvest since the operation. And also, she never explained the nature of the integration and whether a new enterprise system is required or the current enterprise management system is almost enough, where she drifted the board discussion a way from the objectives of their meeting.

I do not think the CEO handled the introduction of new system appropriately, she did not conclude the meeting with any tangibles where board members can rely on or has come up with initial decisions, they can proceed more further. Question 2:
