Over the last nine weeks I have learned a lot that has prepared me to move forward. I have never been the best of a student and some things get challenging to me. Whenever that happens I begin to think I cannot do it. At first when starting my online classes my attitude might not have been the greatest. There were times when I wanted to give up because I would not understand it. With each week of class I would learn something new which would give me higher hopes move forward. I can say it hasn’t been easy, with what I would sometimes say is a stressful and busy life. However, with the tools I can use from the resources available, I have learned to take my time and keep moving through each day with courage to complete my degree to the best of my ability. I also understand it may not be easy but my work will pay off in the long run. I believe the long term results and value of completing my degree in higher education will be one of the best things for me that I have accomplished. I have lived what I can say is living the fast life. After High School I did not care about attending College right away, although it would have been the smart thing to do, I chose differently. From the time I got out of High School until now I did not care about pursuing a career and working dead end jobs all the time is what I ended up doing. With all of the problems I have faced along the way, I believe my long term results will pay off. I can use what I have learned through life and schooling and put it to use. I believe I can help another person who may be struggling with certain life issues by becoming a counselor. It is a passion of mine that I have always had and I know that I can do it. I will value this by completing my degree and accomplishing my goal of becoming a counselor and helping others. It will also show my children that good things can be accomplished in…...

...The musical Nine focuses on the life of an artist. As an artist, Guido Contini who directs films and has became famous for his work. Arrogant and self-centered Guido Contini finds himself struggling to find meaning, purpose, and most importantly a script for his latest film. With only a week left before shooting begins, Guido desperately searches for answers and inspiration from his wife, his mistress, and others around him. As his chaotic profession steadily destroys his personal life, Guido must find a balance between creating art and deciding what is really important to him. Guido’s obsession with his films but more importantly his obsession with his lifestyle blinds him from reality. Throughout the story the press keep hassling Guido and his wife, Luisa, about the way Guido lives his life. Including his personal life, which entails questions about his mistresses, his progress on his movie, and the relationship between him as his wife. In a scene Luis describes whom her husband really is, and that the press confuses Guido with his work. “My husband makes movies; To make them he lives a kind of dream; In which his actions aren’t always what they seem”, Luisa believes that her husband and his work are confused by the public. When watching the play I was somewhat confused on what side she was on. I couldn’t distinguish the difference between how she felt towards Guido and how she felt towards the press’s thoughts on Guido. I believe though at that point in the play......

Cultural Diversity Week Nine Final

...Cultural Diversity Week Nine Final Ken Jarrell ETH/125 October, 7, 2012 Phillip Auld Cultural Diversity Week Nine Final Culture has many definitions in society it can be defined as group’s beliefs, behaviors, and other characteristics. Each culture and the way that they define themselves is what make up the values that are shared by society. Diversity simply defined is a variety of differences. A uniqueness of each cultures individual beliefs and behaviors. The United States is a nation of a most diverse culture and race of people in the world. Gaining a better understanding of the diversity in the United States can be accomplished by taking a closer look at how some of the groups of people are identified. According to, (Schaefer, 2012), there four types of minority or subordinate groups in the United States racial, ethnic, religious, and gender. Racial groups are the grouping of people that are set apart socially by their physical differences color being the most obvious. Other differences are at the mercy of what society will deem as different or obvious. Racial groups are designated more by their physical differences rather than their cultural differences. Ethnic groups are groups set apart from others because of their national origin or distinctive cultural patterns (Schaefer, 2012). Ethnic groups depend on where you are from geographically. Religious groups are associated with a religion other than the dominate religion. The Protestants outnumber the other......

Week Nine It/236 Web Site Analysis

...The Website site www.espn.com is an overall well balanced with great use of web graphic design. The last of my knowledge this website redesigned their web site in the early part of 2009 from a source, “Mike Industries” by Dream host. I am going to point out a lot of the positive aspects of this web site along with what I believe could make this site able to take the step to the next level in today’s industry. I believe overall the positive’s over look some of the negatives that this site has and that unless you are an expert in web design you would never know the flaws of this site. The overall cleanliness of this site is great and the have great use of CSS. When you just glance at this site you can tell that they have spent years designing and redesigning to make sure that it is close to perfect. When you look at the site’s homepage you can tell that they use CSS because all of the main topics or heading stand out from everything else in bigger, bolder and in different colors. Also, the color design they use is good, they use the colors that are of their nature which makes up their unique distinction from all of the other sports web pages. The colors help separate the page just like the titles and headings are bold to separate the main topics. This is an overall good use of CSS. They also use good design of tables, when you look at the bottom half of the web site you see their use of tables, helping divide important highlights and facts from around the world in......

A Stitch in Time Saves Nine

...593 Words Essay on A Stitch in Time Saves Nine by Rehaan Bansal Someone has very aptly and wisely said that a stitch in time saves nine. It contains an invaluable piece of sane advice, which we constantly hear from our teachers in school and elders at home. This highly useful, didactic dictate applies to every field of activity. It implies that work done in time saves a lot of labour, later on. To illustrate it further, it can be said that suppose there is a tear in your shirt, the wisest thing is to stitch it up without any delay, otherwise there will be tears all the way down, which would require a lot more labour and time to put a patch on it. And the final effect too would not be as tidy as it would have been, if it had been stitched during the initial stage. Again, the same principle applies as regards your lessons. If one does not study through the year and hopes to pass examinations only by studying at the last moment, much more effort and time will have to be put in at the eleventh hour and still the retention would not be as effective as it would have been, if the work was done regularly through the year. Yet again, a delayed action quite often causes serious misunderstanding and even loss of friendship, where replying to letters is concerned. Certainly, letter-writing is not everyone’s cup of tea, but certain tasks have to be done and it is the best if they are done without losing any time. For instance, if one postpones replying to a friend’s...

...though). Suzi – there have been conflicts in previous classes with teammates, it is important that we respect each other ideas. And discuss as a team. Ground Rules Do you agree to use the Learning Team forum for your communications? Will you exchange phone numbers, and are calls OK? What days will all team members check into the team forum? Will you appoint weekly team leaders, or will you all contribute to each week’s assignment without having a leader, etc.?  Tanya-Although participation is only required 4 days a week, team members should try to check in most every day. If someone is going to be gone or unable to do this then it is nice if they keep the group informed. I think all communication should happen in the forum unless time constraints or participation issues. Emails, Calls, and Texts are good backups but all outside communications should be detailed in the team forum. In most of my past classes lead was rotated each week. Generally, the lead for that week does the breakdown and handles the paper assembly, intro-conclusion, and first round edits including the checkers. We need to decide how we will handle the lead. I prefer to have individual portions due on Saturday with a rough draft posted Sunday and the paper finished Sunday evening or carrying over to Monday if needed. I also like for everyone to have adequate time to look over the work and approve submission. I know it doesn’t always work out that way though. I also like to have as many people as......

Nine Dragons

...MINI-CASE: NINE DRAGONS PAPER1 The Global Recession "This time is really different. Large and small are all affected. In the past, the big waves would only wash away the sand and leave the rocks. Now the waves are so big, even some rocks are being washed away." - Cheung Yan, co founder and Chairwoman of Nine Dragons Paper2 The first week of January, 2009, was proving to be a challenge for Nine Dragon’s Paper. The company had to repeatedly deny rumors that it was on the edge of bankruptcy. A variety of media reports over the past two weeks had reported that the company’s inability to service its debt would lead to a bankruptcy filing. Incorporated in Hong Kong in 1995, Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Limited, had become an international powerhouse in the paper industry. The company's primary product was linerboard, with a product line including kraftlinerboard, testlinerboard and white top linerboard in a portfolio of paperboard products used to manufacture consumer product packaging. The company had expanded rapidly and spent extensively. But by January 2009 the world economy was spiraling downward. Squeezed by market conditions and burdened by debt, Nine Dragons Paper (NDP), the largest paperboard manufacturer in Asia and second largest in the world, saw its share price drop to HK$ 2.33, 90% off its high and less than half of book value. As the economic crisis of 2008 bled into 2009, export-oriented industries suffered. Rumors had been buzzing since October that NDP was on...

Nine Rasas

...slice of human life focuses precisely on these rasas, or emotions in order to appeal to the audience. That rasas are the mainstay of performing art, or natya, is a fact that has been well-recognised for centuries now. The NatyaShastra is an ancient Indian text dated between 2nd century BC and 2nd century AD which analyses all aspects of performing art. It is often called the fifth veda because of its importance. In it one finds a thorough exposition on the rasas, or emotions that characterise Life as well as Art. The NatyaShastra describes nine rasas or NavaRasas that are the basis of all human emotion. Each is commented upon in detail. It is useful to keep in mind that a rasa encompasses not just the emotion, but also the various things that cause that emotion. These two things go hand in hand and are impossible to treat separately. This duality is part of every rasa to varying degrees. Today we try to bring to you a flavour of each of these nine rasas, explaining what each one means and presenting it to you through some Indian art form. Shringara Shringara means love and beauty. This is the emotion used to represent that which appeals to the human mind, that which one finds beautiful, that which evokes love. This is indeed the king of all rasas and the one that finds the most frequent portrayal in art. It can be used for the love between friends, the love between a mother and her child, the love for god or the love between a teacher and his disciples. But the Shringara or......

The Last

...Benjamin Lucas COMM240 – Interpersonal Paper The Last I recall a brightly lit room on a Sunday morning, as I kissed her on the forehead, “I love you…” Slowly she opened her eyes and as she sat next to me, “Hey… Um… How many were there before me?” she asked. “Like, how many girls did you love before me?” “Love? Five…” I stated. “I loved five women before you.” The disappointment in her eyes after a sigh, though she smiled… “What are their names?” “…Who, What, When, Where, Why…” I said to her. “Can you tell me about them?” “Who I loved, was a girl from college. I wasn’t exactly close to her, but with some superficial facts and a few interactions over a semester, you know, like most guys fantasizing over girls they barely know, I filled in the blanks like a fairytale author. And who she became in my head was probably more than the reality. She was a third year, sorority girl, and yeah, I was an infatuated freshman, sure, but the several times you get to spend together outside of class… It really allowed me to see, she also had a good heart and a bright spirit. The only problem was, so did just about every other guy. And while she turned me down nicely, I swear… There were times when it seemed like the cliché sorority girl may have felt something for the typical awkward freshman.” “What I loved, was an old friend, but she was more than just a friend. We met early in college and kept in touch through the years. We saw each other grow, and change...

Mgt 210 Week Nine Capstone Checkpoint

...Capstone: Week Nine Checkpoint By: Jessica Swann MGT/210 Ms. Tara Wells January 26th, 2012 In my opinion, to be an essential supervisor of a small, medium, or large company, you must possess certain traits or abilities. First, you must be organized in time management because this is an essential part of being a supervisor. You must be able to make necessary decisions and changes in order to keep your production running harmoniously. For example, you have an assembly line in which you have 20 employees inserting different components into desktop computers. Each person inserts 2 parts into the housing as it goes down the line and after the 20th person installs their components, the computer moves on to another line. Today you have 3 people on dayshift that call off work; which means you have to fill the three openings in order to keep production running. What do you do? Option #1 is to have 3 people from other departments come over and fill the spots except it leaves those departments short by one person. Now this is a feasible idea providing the other departments are not already short staffed. Also it will shutdown your production line until you find the people willing to switch. Option #2 would be to call a “temp service” for the fill in’s except it would take too long to get people in place and then you have to train them. Production will be cut by probably 75%. Not a feasible idea. Option #3 would be to have 3 people stay over 4 hours from the...

Week Nine Final Project

...How HIPAA Violations Affect the Medical Billing Process Kathleen Davis HCR/220 7/22/2012 Lydia Cavieux HIPPA HIV and AIDS Keywords: HIV, AIDS, HIPPA One of the most sensitive of all disease is HIV and AIDS. These diseases keep many people from receiving treatment due to the fear of breach of confidentiality. This fear directly affects their health, because they do not receive the treatment they so desperately need. If any organization or doctor’s office breaches a patient confidentiality they could face civil or criminal penalties. HIPPA does not separate HIV/AIDS, but an individual is still protected under set guidelines. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) attempts to address some of the barriers to healthcare coverage and related job mobility impediments facing people with HIV as well as other vulnerable populations. HIPAA has three main goals. The first is to provide persons with group coverage new protections from discriminatory treatment. The second is to enable small groups (such as businesses with a small number of employees) to obtain and keep health insurance coverage more easily. The third is to give persons losing/leaving group coverage new options for obtaining individual coverage. This law provides several protections important to people with HIV/AIDS. The first is it limits (but does not wholly eliminate) the use of pre-existing condition exclusions. HIPPA also allows a patient to be aware of who will......

My Reflection on Learning Experience for the Last Eight Weeks Studies in Marketing.

...further in marketing their products to consumers. For example, Coca Cola markets itself in a way that makes consumers associate it with thirst and playing. Although many Australians watch AFL, my favourite sport is a game of soccer, which has made me like drinking Coca Cola. Every time I think of soccer, I think of Coca Cola. This marketing style is very important because it make consumers affection towards the brand a lasting relationship. However, it is an expensive strategy as it cost millions of dollars. This disadvantages many small or emerging companies because they cannot afford millions of dollars for marketing. In the tutorial class, my group members and I explored how Coca Cola has become so dominant in soft drink market. Tutorial (Week 2) In my group, our task was to find out what has made Coca Cola so successful since its inception in nineteenth century. We did not know where to start. As we struggled to begin, the tutor reminded us about time, which was sadly against us. For my input, I told my group that instead of the broader question to why Coca-Cola is the most successful company ever, we could break it down and ask each other a question: “do you drink Coca-Cola, and how often do you drink it? Where do you find it? Do you have Coca-Cola in your country”? (Four of us came to Australia from four different countries). We did that and in no time, we were able to draw a very concrete conclusion. We found out that the reason why many people like Coca-Cola is......
