The extent to what level of efficiency modern education system could perform in teaching students is always a hot topic. Among many developing suggestions that could improve learning efficiency, the necessity of attending the class has been argued frequently in recent years. When it comes to whether giving students freedom of attending class as an optional choice or not, tradition has it that class is affirm part of the school life. Some people may believe that going to classes should be optional, but I really disagree with them about it. I don’t understand how a university student can expect to learn much knowledge if he doesn’t attend classes. Although self study is a good way to acquire knowledge, students, I believe, need to be in class.

In classes students receive the benefits of the teacher’s knowledge. A teacher does more than just going over the material in the textbooks; she draws her students into discussions that may lead further understanding of the teaching materials. She not only teaches acknowledge and theories, but also presents opposing options that help students think and absorb what they have learned. Additionally, she may invite guest speakers to give students extra information from another prospect, or play some documentary films on certain subject.

Besides teaching knowledge, a teacher impart her students the right method of study. In the way, the students can understand how to study efficiently, how to find information from proper resources, and how to apply what they have learned into practice. In other words, if there is no teacher to lead them to the right way, the students may go into a roundabout and waste lots of time.

The last reason for attending classes is that going to classes can train students to by more responsible and have good sense of teamwork. In classes, the students may be given some group assignments. To achieve…...

Miami Attendance

...performance standpoint, the University of Miami does not have the same success in attendance records for football games. According to the National College Athletics Association, the Hurricanes did not rank in the top thirty for attendance in division one college football games in 2009. The University of Miami only averaged 47,551 fans per game, while the University of Michigan had the highest average attendance of 108,933 fans per game. Moreover, even the University of California, which is the thirtieth place team, had an average attendance greater than the University of Miami: 59,472 fans per game. How could one of the top college football programs in the country struggle to fill its stands with fans? Perhaps the Hurricanes stadium does not have the capacity to hold as many fans as the other top college football stadiums. The Hurricanes currently play at Dolphin Stadium, which can only hold 75,540 fans. Prior to the Dolphin Stadium, the Hurricanes played at the Orange Bowl, which had an even smaller capacity of 72,319 fans. The capacity of both of these stadiums would have allowed Miami to rank in the in the top twenty for attendance during the 2001 football season. Since the University of Miami can have more fans attend football games, I researched what potential variables could lead to higher attendance statistics. The results presented in this study indicate that the Hurricanes could influence attendance based on performance results, the performance results of their......

Time and Attendance

...witnessing a new kind of revolution—the Information Revolution—ushered in by technology. This revolution is far more sweeping than any other revolution in history in its reach and influence, bringing fundamental changes in all aspects of our life. Information technology is the use of computers and software to manage information. As computers grew in speed and capability, a number of general-purpose database systems emerged. In the present context, I have great pleasure in presenting “Factory Time Attendance Management System (FTAMS)” program. This program is used by factories of all sizes. The FTAMS works with RFID time attendance devices to manage working hours of employees recorded in the devices in order to pay their wages. FTAMS could protect a factory from payroll fraud and provide both employer and employees with confidence in the accuracy of their wage payments. The present system is necessarily providing a convenient, simple, and comprehensive program on managing the time and attendance system for the benefits of employees and the factory. I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to your education. Writing this book has been a lot of fun for me and I sincerely hope that you get a lot out of it. I have tried to be balanced in presenting both the advantages and disadvantages of some of the new ideas. I encourage you to adopt a similar open and critical stance when reading this book. Attendance Monitoring

...energy / power. Till now the company is successful since its establishment. Scope and Limitation: The study focuses on the monitoring of attendances of the employees in World Citi Colleges. The attendance monitoring system is concerned in getting the time when a student and employees logs in and out and whether the employees and students is present or not. Flow of the Current System: This system handles their attendance by using time cards and Bundy clock. The time card holds a lot of information about the employee and students. The Bundy Clock is the one that puts the time when the employee and students checks in or out. First an employee and students is given a time card which holds their attendance information. They insert their time card into the Bundy clock which holds the time. After they have finished their work, they should insert again their time cards into the Bundy clock for the information when and what time they left the campus or school. The computation of hours work is done after the last employee or students checks out of the campus or school, they do this by checking the log in and log out of the time card of an employee and student and compute for the working hours on that certain day. Data Managed by the Current System: There are a lot of data that the company keeps for reports. And attendance is one of the most important things that the company should monitor. Employee information is needed for the company to know the background of......

Attendance System

...records of attendance from falling out of popularity. Not that people are afraid of going through changes, and certainly not because there aren’t any other alternatives, but only because no one has cared. In reality, this method is fast becoming obsolete; in fact that time is already now. So in contrast with this modern day and age, when most tasks have long since been automated, many may even call this approach still being used in school today as history. The paper method was convenient for a while until it became such a clutter just keeping them. Also, this type of record-keeping is not the most reliable as they are in constant danger of being damaged and being lost in passage or in handling. Records in paper can be cheated too –and trees could have been spared for more reasonable purposes especially when their numbers are thinning down. Manufacturing is more efficient and faster than ever. Not so long ago the components needed for automating the most common systems were being produced in a much slower pace than in today’s standards, which explains too why the cost was higher back then. But nowadays the production shows no sign of slowing down; it is even increasing exponentially. On the other hand, the prices drop down and the demand grows in scale. Thus the same will be true for automating an access and attendance monitoring system: it is not as expensive as one might think. Also it is appropriate in this generation of students that attendance keeping is...

Attendance Management

...it lives each and every day. 1.1.2. Importance of the topic from macro and micro perspective The purpose of attendance management is to develop a willingness on the part of all employees to attend work regularly and to assist them in motivating their co-workers to attend work regularly. This can be done through; 1. Addressing the physical and emotional needs of employees 2. Communicating the attendance goals of the organization so employees can understand and identify with them 3. Dealing with cases of excessive absenteeism effectively and fairly to produce deterrence. Successful administration of an attendance management program requires managers and supervisors to be aware of, and to create work environments in which the following can be actualized; 1. The greater the extent to which individuals identify with the goals of the organization and care what happens to it, the greater their motivation to be regular in attendance. 2. The more that people find their jobs meaningful to them, the greater their motivation to be regular in attendance. 3. As employees’ workloads increase due to the absence of a co-worker, peer pressure is exerted on the absent co-worker to attend work on a regular basis. 4. The more people like working for the organization, the higher their motivation to attend regularly. Recognition of good employee attendance helps improve attendance. 5. Employees will have a lower absence ratio if they feel free to discuss their on-the-job problems with......

Should Attendance Be Mandatory or Optional for College Courses?

...A mandatory attendance policy does not really enhance students' school performance as it's usually expected. Having an optional attendance policy would enable students to get the most out of their time and their education. Attending class regularly does not mean students will have better understanding or performance. Some students sometimes miss class, but they still study well. However, they have to come to class, or their grade would be decreased due to poor attendance. How can teachers put knowledge into the heads of these students? They sit in class, but they feel very distracted. They even disturb other students who are paying attention to the lessons. Does it worsen the situation? If teachers let such students choose whether to attend class or not, maybe the class environment would be better. In the classroom students raise ideas and ask questions about what they are still unclear about after reading assigned books or doing homework. It's not the place where those who lack interest are forced to listen to what they do not like. For this reason, students should be given right to decide whether to attend class or not. A mandatory attendance policy discourages independent thinking, self-discipline, and self-study. Students are adults. Adult students can decide what is best for them. With younger students this policy is necessary for many reasons such as safety reasons. However, adult students cannot be forced to do what they don’t want to do. That will form in them a......

...Arun Kumar Mishra and Debidutt Acharya, “WIRELESS FINGERPRINT BASED STUDENT ATTENDANCE SYSTEM” , 2010. Biometrics is the very study of identifying a person by his/her physical traits that are inherent and unique to only the person concerned. Biometric measurement and assessment include fingerprint verification, iris recognition, palm geometry, face recognition etc. The above mentioned techniques work with different levels of functionality and accuracy. Accuracy and reliability are the two most important parameters when it comes to biometric applications. Fingerprint verification is one of the oldest known biometric techniques known but still is the most widely used because of its simplicity and good levels of accuracy. It’s a well known fact that every human being is born with a different pattern on the fingers and this feature is exploited to identify and differentiate between two different persons. The application in an educational institute is worth noting because of the benefits it brings along with it. The fingerprint recognition and verification technique can easily replace an attendance sheet and save time wasted on calling out roll numbers in the class. A fingerprint detecting device needs to be placed in each classroom and students would be made to swipe their finger over the sensor so as to mark their presence in the class. The database would contain all the fingerprints beforehand. So, the moment a finger would be swiped, a check......
