“You left me…here all alone.” Those were Tashira’s first words of my mother’s eulogy. She wept, cried, and has gone crazy. My mother was in the hospital for two months before being declared dead on December 25th, 2005. Was this the family Christmas gift? Her death was a big tragedy. It affected the family, but had an even bigger effect on my daughter Tashira. She and Tashira were very close and did everything together. Tashira only came up to my mother’s waist, but always pushing to sit beside her. They were the best of friends; Tashira was at my mother house every weekend. While I’ll be at work, they’ll be out somewhere shopping or eating ice cream. Her grandmother gave her the world. Tashira’s grandmother was her favorite person and losing her was hard.
As I sit here and watch Tashira break down, I think of everything I can do to get her back to the old her. The girl that didn’t chatter much, but was always shy, until she got around her grandmother. Now she’s just completely mute and depressed. The memories they shared together even makes me break down here and there. It sucks to see my daughter Tashira sad all the time. My princess was only 5, how could God take such an important person out of her life?
Her grandmother’s death really changed things. She acted as if the world had taken everything away from her. Tashira seemed distant, she didn’t want to speak to me, because she only wanted to speak to her grandmother. Once I noticed her depression setting in I sat her down one day to have a talk.
“I noticed you’ve changed…...

...Introduction Nearly 60% of companies are facing leadership talent shortages that are impeding their performance. Another 31% expect a lack of leadership talent to impede their performance in the next several years. Yet, in 2009, U.S. companies spent an estimated $12 billion (24% of their overall training budgets) on leadership development programs and services. By any reasonable standard, what we are currently doing to grow and develop future leaders is not working. (Ashford, DeRue, 2010, para. 1) In August of 2011, the national unemployment rate in the United States was 9.1% or 14 million people without jobs (bls.gov, 2011). Despite an abundance of available workers, American businesses are finding it difficult to locate personnel who possess leadership abilities. Why are potential leaders hard to find? There are over 7,000 established American recruiting firms and over one million recruiters on LinkedIn and other professional network sites who are searching for candidates who they can place into vacant leadership positions. With 14 million unemployed workers seeking employment and over one million recruiters seeking to assist companies’ acquisition of leaders, why are 93% of American businesses facing or predicting to face performance losses due to leadership talent shortages? The most likely cause for this phenomenon is a lack of available personnel who are perceived as possessing the characteristics of an effective leader. What qualities do an......

...Celestin Jules Assignment 4 I remember in the early to mid-90’s the word information super highway was the buzz word. I was very young and clueless when I started hearing about the information super highway. I understood the terms highway and super, however I didn’t get the totality of what an information superhighway encompassed. The business dictionary defines information superhighway as "Internet-type global network of computers that, potentially, will connect most of world's individuals, firms, and organizations. It is envisioned to provide very high speed access to information in all forms (text, graphics, audio, video) via a telephone or wireless connection. The term was first used in 1985 by the 45th US Vice President (1993-2001) Al Gore (born 1948) in an American context where every citizen is aimed to be so connected". As a kid, I hardly knew what a personal computer was, but I was kind of familiar with a word processor. I became a little familiar with the Apple computer because of a work study program that I was involved in. Based on the information I had at that time, I thought a computer was something that you stored information solely for an individual’s use. While I was familiar with using my computer at work to interface with other departments within the organization, I had no idea that the electronic information system would one day be an absolute necessity in my everyday life, both at work and in my personal life. I......

...Lewis Andrew Enc1101 Jenise Hudson Paper3 part 1 After reading the two stories and both including couples and their idea of a trophy wife and the conflicts I feel that the passage from successful women, angry men relates more to what goes on in reality. In “The new trophy wife”, they talk about how woman think men fear them if they are more successful than them. In all reality men appreciate a woman who can hold her own, yet I feel not all men find that to be a trophy wife. In the other passage they talked about a couple who went from almost never arguing to excessive arguing. They had made prior agreements to adjusting to each other’sbusy schedule around work and their new baby. Things didn’t go as planned and they began to argue because he felt she worked to much and they had no time alone. They had no bonding time to spend with eachother so it caused them to argue. A new trophy wife just broke down what they thought the new trophy wife of todays age was. There was many different couples used in the passage and they used some things that apply to few relationships. Although some of it was true it wasn’t about how a relationship really was in todays society. In the other passage they had argued about who was gonna clean the house and take care of the kids. Their relationship began to get worse and worse to to the arguing. You can see how the stress they both had to deal with had greatly affected what they had towards the beginning of their marriage....

Mastery- the Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment by: George Leonard

...Book Report “Mastery- The Keys To Success And Long-Term Fulfillment By: George Leonard” While trying to do better in our lives and improving ourselves, it is hard to master something well. This often can get us down on ourselves and make it hard to accomplish our goals. Mastery (The book) helps you better see that mastery is not a finite action or something that is achieved overnight. I learned a great deal from some of the insights and I will aim to focus on the principals in this book that matter most to me and I could use, later in life. George Leonard, was a man of great skill and insight. He used his understanding of Aikido to attach the internal needs we strive for to achieve mastery. It is a book filled with ways to keep on working and persisting to gain the mastery of anything. One of the first lessons I learned from reading this book was to understand myself. I needed to ask myself, what kind of person I was in my desire to master something. When he discusses the path of endless climax, I can sometimes find myself feeling that “need for speed” per say. I am the kid who quits his job because he could win the tickets. If it was not for the teachings of the church and the fact that I listen well to counsel given to us by our prophets, I would try for the get rich quick idea. I could apply this and read this over and over again and I enjoy the stories in the book and in this section. It can help me to see that there is no greater joy than for working hard for......
