The two items I picked to experiment was spreading my belongings so as to occupy too much space and standing and talking with other people and not occupying too much space.
In my algebra class, 3 of us sit at a table, with just enough personal space for our textbooks and notebooks. When I arrived to class, the other two people were already at the table, they are a brother and sister. I haven’t spoke too much with them because the class just started 3 weeks ago and with lecture going on, there isn’t much time to talk. After I sat down, I pulled my textbook, notebook and calculator out and placed them on the table. As the lecture started, I appeared to be writing notes in my notebook and reading from the textbook. As I did this, I intentionally moved them out to occupy more of the space from the guy sitting next to me. I noticed as I moved them inch by inch, he would move his items back away inch by inch, giving me more space. Over the next hour, I did this more and more, until I occupied at least half of his space. He occasionally started throwing me dirty looks, but didn’t say much. I could tell he was getting irritated. As I moved my items another couple inches towards him, he finally asked me what my problem was. I said sorry and that I didn’t realize my books were so far in his area. He said that he wondered how I couldn’t of noticed that, he was getting squished. I then explained the experiment to him, and he laughed and said that he was really starting to get pissed off and was wondering why I was doing…...

Living on My Own

...In the summer of 2010 leading into my junior of year of high school my mother and I had a lot of altercations. We kept having disagreements about what time I came into the house at night, me always having company, and me never cleaning up my room. My mother and I weren’t the only ones having this disagreement. I had four cousins who were having the same exact debates with their mothers, who were my aunts. My mother and Aunts all sat down and discussed the matter. They came up the solution of us having our own apartment. When they brought the idea to us five we all agreed that it were a great plan. Us having our own apartment meant that we could do what we wanted when we wanted without our mothers nagging us about every little thing. We knew we were going to have fun, but we also knew we had responsibilities that had to be taken care of. We all agreed to do our part and chip in where we were needed. It was time to prove to our mothers we were old enough and mature enough to be on our own and make the right decisions. Frenchie, Dj, Crap, Jamarcus, and I moved in on July 21, 2010. We were going to be staying in Hill Top Apartments, apartment 312. The apartment had 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a living area. Since Dj was the oldest he got a room to himself. Jamarcus and I shared a room and Frenchie and Crap shared the other. We had two cars amongst us, mines and Jamarcus’s. Since we were on our own we tried to save as much money as possible so we......

...considering offering similar courses. The argument that sources of understanding, such as case studies and professional practice papers, are unacceptable because they are subjective and deal primarily with a particular local context is not accepted by interpretivists. They see all social science research as being subjective and as dealing with a local context. This view shifts the responsibility of making decisions about generalizations from the researcher to the consumer. The consumer does not take the research paper as a reflection of universal truths. It is, instead, always the story of one particular setting, told subjectively by the authors. Consumers decide what might be useful as background information as they make decisions in their own context. The idea that all truth is local breaks down a number of barriers in research. For example, the difference between research and program evaluation melts away because it is based on the idea that program evaluation leads to local truth, while research leads to generalizations that go well beyond the particular setting of the study. Since interpretivists believe that all knowledge is local, there is no need for the distinction. The emphasis on context also points interpretivists toward what has been termed participatory research. Participatory research (Heron, 1996) includes participatory action research and many other forms that break down the wall between the researcher and participants. In this approach there are......

My Own View or Reality

...My View of Reality In my journey in finding the nature of reality, I have encountered philosophers of different views. There is Parmenides who says that the real is being(one) which is permanent; on the other hand, Heraclitus says what is real is becoming which is changing. While Plato who sided with Parmenides says what is real is the world of Forms, the world that reflects our world today. However, Aristotle says that the real are matter and form. Furthermore, Levinas stresses the importance of the other as if your relationship with the other helps you fulfill your being a person. That is really true if you will live it. Another philosopher, St. Thomas Aquinas says what is real is being “that which exists” wherein his essence and existence is a participation or came from the Pure Act/ God who acted his act of existence. On the other hand, Heidegger makes a turn of these Western views of metaphysics. Heidegger claims that what is real is that the nothing which makes being possible and reality is the unfolding and keeping of Being. Thus, for Heidegger reality is whole and dynamic. This is compared to Buddhistic view of reality. Buddhism believes that reality is interdependently arising which is impermanent and no separation. Moreover, Derrida adds something. He believes that meaning is impossible for no matter how you process to signify the meaning of something, you could not really get the meaning of that something. So, what......

Why Amy Owns My Heart

...aka owner of my heart, I find it difficult to come up with the words to describe how much I miss you and how lonely the world has become without you in it. I can’t explain the amount of pain I have been in not having you. I have missed you tremendously, physically and metaphorically and truly can’t imagine feeling like this every day. I want you, I need you. The only thing I haven’t figured out is how to get back to where we were. I have talked with you many times about how much I regret not having kids. I never realized what I was missing until I found out first hand. I feel that they make the total package that is you better not worse. During that conversation we had on your back porch I was truly seeking guidance and insight on how you handled the kids with so much poise. I deeply regret if it appeared otherwise. I have told you many times that between the two of us that you are by far the luckiest for having them in your life. Remember I was as concerned as you were about entering into their lives before I was positive that we had a future. I very much thought that taking the time to make sure we were right first was the absolute correct thing to do. Now I feel 100% that it was the absolutely right thing to do. Your girls are very quickly finding a place in my heart, and from what we discussed last night they feel the same way. I feel that we work so well because we are truly complimentary in our strengths. One of the factors that weighs in on that is my lack of......

Preiview of My Own Story

...having something dramatic happen for the better, but not my story. The year I turned fifteen was the worst year of my life. It all happened as my mother predicted when our dad got laid off of his job. The manager told him they were doing cut backs. Everyone in town knew it was because my dad caught the manager cheating on his wife. Dads a firm believer in being faithful to your wife and family. Things only got worse for me and my brother Alex. First mom got sick, then dad got beat up by loan sharks they wanted their money back a week after they gave it to him. As the months went by the loan sharks got even worse with dad, following him home, cutting his tires, they even came to the hospital. The fist darkened day was when things seemed to be going great for us finally. Dad had found a job, and mom seemed to be doing better. So dad took us out for dinner and a movie. It was great, but while we were on our way to the hospital a dark car stopped in front of us causing us to hit the car from behind. My father was frantic trying to see if we were all okay, but what was more horrifying then the wreck was what happened after. The men in the car ahead of us got out and came to dads side of the car, they pulled him out and started beating him. It was scary to see the things they did, but dad did get away for a bit... “Sam drive away now....leave.” He screamed as they chased him back towards the car. I could never forget the night my father was shot in front of me. After that......

My Word Family

...My Word Family -um Word Family + initial single consonant- sum, yum Word Family + consonant blend- glum, chum Word Family + three letter consonant blend OR consonant digraph- strum Word Family+ inflectional ending- humming Word Family as part of a 2-syllable word- triumph Word Family as part of a 3-syllable word- triumphant Word Family as part of a larger, multisyllabic word- not found For my student, I have chosen to create a phonetic flip chart. He or she will create their own flip chart so that they can have the opportunity to practice while putting it together. As they flip up different tabs on the chart, they will see that they’ve created a new word from our list. This would be a really great tool in working with my emergent reader on the -um word family as well. I have also come up with another method of creating an organizer to help teach my student these words. The organizer I have created is pretty much just like a concept map. The word family, in this case um, goes right in the center of the page. From the center, I have provided pictures that surround the -um family, some that contain -um and some that do not. The student will be asked to color every picture of a -um sound and draw lines from them to the circle in the middle. This helps the student become more familiar with how to recognize the words we have learned while also recognizing words that do not pertain to the -um family. The following text sample was created with the help...

...However, upon completing my prior required assignment “Three Day Diet Analysis” and comparing my results to the recommended serving size and amount based on mypyramidtracker.gov website, I was shocked to find that my eating habits were not all that great despite the fact that I work-out five times a week, doing various physical activities such as, yoga, P90X, hip-hop abs, playing basketball, and running. Within this assignment, I will create a healthy eating plan for myself, implementing my personal recommendations from choosemyplate.gov website and my recommendations from mypyramidtracker.gov website. Furthermore, I will discuss my current eating habits and ways on how I plan to implement my healthy eating plan into my daily lifestyle. On any given day, I consume on average 2-3 8oz cups of Spanish espresso, way over the recommended daily amount, along with 1 12 oz. regular mountain dew. However, other than that I drink 1 full glass of 2% milk, 4-5 12 oz. bottles of water, 1-2 serving of fruits and vegetables, 4-6 serving of meats and beans and to be honest an unknown amount of fats, oils, and sweets. Other than the obvious no-no foods and drinks that I consume on a daily basis, I feel that my daily diet is not all that terrible. I am a 28 year old African-American female, 5 foot 10 inches tall, and I weight approximately 171 lbs. According to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute website, based on my current weight, height, and age, my approximate body mass......

My Own Business

...Week 7 / Report 2… My Own Business…”Yoga for Anyone” N/A Parkville University Abstract This paper explores the process I took to decide what business to choose and marketing strategies of said business I want to start. I selected one in a fast-growing arena of health improvement; and I will achieve it by offering everything there is to know about Yoga. It addresses several aspects of a marketing plan from how I arrive at this possibility to applying the marketing mix in the Four P’s of product, price, promotion, and place. Finally, I describe a layout over viewing why my website will succeed throughout product life-cycle. My Own Business: “Yoga for Anyone” Deciding upon a business is not something I did not go into lightly or taken on a dare. I gave it much thought, would research heavily through both the use of secondary and primary research marketing methods, and then send through the rigorous trials and tribulations of product and / or service life cycle. Main thing I understood it is not as simple as choosing something I thought in terms of…if I have a passion for it, everyone should share in my passion, and it is the latest and greatest craze; therefore, I must “jump on the bandwagon” and have one as well. Although, both of these ideas have some credence in marketing, because I had to believe in what I did and be marketable, respectively, it is not as glib or easy as the aforementioned old adages imply. I took all of this into consideration when I......

My Last Words

...My Last Words: Qin Shihuangdi Reginald Leron Butler HUM 111 Dr. Aurello D. Givens November 26, 2014 My Last Words: Qin Shihuangdi My life began over 2,000 years ago in the seven states known today as China. At the age of 13 I took the throne as emperor, but due to my youth and lack of leadership, I had to relinquish power to my father figure, Prime Minister Lu Buwei. Lu Buwei was a very successful business man in Qin who introduced a sustainable tax system to the land as well as manufacturing and trade. Buwei efforts along with his involvement with the powers that be at the time brought great fortune to Qin which also created an economic climate for war. Buwei reign would last for 8 years until he was caught trying to take my throne, in an assassination attempt, when I was just 24 years of age. Lu Buwei latter took his own life in fear that I would come after him in his exile (Szczepanski, 2013). In the wake of the Prime Ministers death, I was able to take full control of my kingdom and in doing so I made some changes to the legislation. Because there were many assassination attempts on my life, paranoia took its toll on me, shaping my thoughts and actions. Due to this revelation, I had to make a change in legislation to fit my needs. First I banished all scholars from my court. Next I took away all freedom of expression of those that would oppose me. I even change the currency so that instead of many coins being accepted by merchants there would now only......

My Attitude to Word Writing

...writing, my attitude is instinctual negative. I never feel confident when I am faced with a variety of writing task in and outside of class. Since middle school I realized, that writing, no matter in what language, is one of my weakest subjects in school. Especially academic writing represents always a challenge for me. It is not only time consuming, but also a lot of work. For example, when writing about topics I am not familiar with, I have to do research, that takes a lot of time and energy. Since there are many rules to follow, I as well must worry about how to use words and sentences wisely, written in certain tenses and structures. Furthermore, my resistance toward writing is also influenced by various types of fear. For example, the feeling of fear, not to meet my and the professor's expectation inhibits my mind and unable me to clearly express myself by using words; leaving the paper blank. Moreover, I am getting nervous and anxious, when I need to write essays under time pressure due to deadlines. The pressure is overwhelming. I definite enjoy reading more than academic writing. Reading allows me to be creative; stimulate my imagination/able to picture images in my mind, without any pressure. Nevertheless, fact is that I lack of creativity when it comes to academic writing with all its boundaries and limitations. Even though, I know that I don't have much confidence in my writing skills just yet, I believe the more writing I do; the more comfortable I get with my......

Ecological Model and My Own Development

...The Ecological Model and My Own Development David O Cook Liberty University Counseling 620 April 12, 2015 Abstract According to McWhirter (2013), “Bronfenbrenner’s (1994) ecological model rests on the thesis that humans develop and grow within the context of a number of reciprocal systems” (p. 21). The theory presents that adolescence’s development is effected by everything in their surroundings. This paper will address the different systems that divide the ecological systems theory and how they have affected my own development through my life. Microsystem The first level discussed in the ecological theory will be the microsystem. This is the part that is closest around the person and is especially important to development because there is direct contact to the person (McWhirter et al, 2013). Example of the system would be a home environment, work place and school. This microsystem would include family members, other peers and direct caregivers. These relationships that are in this system can be viewed as reciprocal in direction. The interactions in the relationships are made up of reactions on both sides. These actions of the person are influenced by how they are treated in the relationship. This could be looked at as the most influential system in the theory. The microsystem in my own development would consist mostly of my family in the home environment. In my early life I was around four older brothers and two older...

My Own Creation

...with wireless then, knew whether a set carefully put together would work at all or how far the signals could be heard. Transmissions of a hundred miles or more were hailed as remarkable. Present-day radio listeners are quite prone to think of radio as nothing more than telephonic broadcasting. But before the wireless telephone, came tremendous amounts of hard, sometimes discouraging, but always fascinating and essentially romantic work. Wireless first startled the world’s fair in 1904. At that time there was, of course, no radio public, and the range of wireless was only a few miles. The sending and receiving instruments were unbelievably crude, resembling in no way the marvels of today. Messages were sent at the snail-like pace of a few words per minute, in the dots, spaces, and dashes of the Morse code, instead of the International code that is now generally used. Sending music or talking by wireless was then undreamed of. There were many mountainous obstacles to meet and conquer before we even had the vision of a wireless telephone, which was the forerunner of radio. Wireless services represent a progression of technology, and perhaps a new era of telecommunications, but these services have been used for over a century and remain synonymous with "rad Wireless technology progressed as an invaluable tool used by the U.S. Military during WWII when the Army began sending battle plans over enemy lines and when Navy ships instructed their fleets from shore to shore. Wireless......

My Own Leadersgip

...University of Phoenix Nursing 587/Leadership and Management in Nursing and Healthcare Marcia Lyles, MSN, EDD, PhD. January 5, 2006 Personal Leadership Development Plan It has been my experience that health care professionals as well as consumers are becoming more verbal about the inadequacies of the health care system. It is clear that improvement is necessary. There are many roads to improvement of the system, one of which is the proper use of the Advance Nurse Practitioner. With this role properly developed, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner can effect many changes both in and out of the hospital setting. It is for this reason that I chose to advance my practice as a nurse. As an advanced practice clinician, I will be able to make a difference in the community by contributing to the enlargement of the primary care workforce to meet the population’s primary care needs. Within the next five years, I view myself in an advanced practice role, that of a Nurse Practitioner serving the adult population in an outpatient clinical setting. As an advanced practice clinician and leader, my efforts will be directed at ensuring that effective health care is provided to the patients that will result in improved quality and health outcomes. At the local level, I will have a strong influence on my team in my area of clinical practice. This involves identifying the steps required to develop excellence in care for a group of patients such as skilled assessments, research-based......

Evaluating My Own Ability

...Becoming an Effective Leader Understanding my own ability to fulfil key responsibilities of the leadership role. 1.1 Evaluating my own ability: Before deciding which indicative leadership styles are best suited in different situations with different people, one must understand the key responsibilities of the leadership role in terms of influencing real change and a paradigm shift within the environment in which they operate. Whereas managers are in the main operationally driven and transactional, both essential attributes in providing business consistency, effective leaders are transformational in so far as they focus on people by providing inspiration, motivation and influencing as they go. Managers will focus on doing things right by following the rules through planning, organising, exercising control and directing operations. Leaders on the other hand will focus on doing the right thing by applying less rigidity, influencing people to be more participative and provide meaningful input, thus helping the individual build and grow in confidence. This can only work when the leader is willing to delegate and allow the team to be part of the decision making process. In my own role I’ve had to learn through time that showing empathy and listening to gain trust and build rapport with employees in my teams are the cornerstones. My modus operandi was always based on nurturing these two vital ingredients in order to bring those capable of delivering the objectives and......
