...Presentation Essentials October 15,2012 The Rhetorical Triangle is made up of three elements they are the speaker, audience and situation. I have watched two videos of presentations, which I will explain how they fit into the parts of the Rhetorical Triangle. The first video is Ellen Degeneres delivering a commencement speech to Tulane University’s class of 2009. Naturally the speaker in this video was Ellen Degeneres who is a well known actress and comedian. She of course started her speech off with jokes and kept it light hearted and jovial. This didn’t really show much direction in which she was trying to go with the speech, but as it went on she got more to the point as she delivered her intended goal. I feel that she did a fantastic job reaching her intended audience; they were focused on what she had to say during her entire speech. Ellen was able to combine funny with serious and even able to tie in some experiences that college students would have during their years at the university. She made sure to cover her experiences that got her and her career to where it is now. The situation of her speech was to deliver one at a commencement ceremony. The definition of commencement is a ceremony at which academic degrees or diplomas are conferred. (Commencement,2012) Even though Ellen did not attend Tulane University, but was a resident of Louisiana so the university had her deliver the speech. Its purpose was help the graduates look at someone’s path to their success...

The final step of this attitude survey is the specific instructions for administering, scoring, and interpreting the attitude survey. Something that seems insignificant, like some members of the learning teams not participating or the some member’s waiting until the last minute can cause dissatisfaction that affects productivity and morale of the group. Hrm Class Survey

...HRM Class Summary The best thing I have learned in class was the six major steps in strategic planning. Step one: mission, vision, and values. Step two: environmental analysis. Step three: internal analysis. Step four: formulating strategy. Step five: strategy implementation. Step six: evaluation and assessment. Step one consists of creating a mission, vision, and values for the organization. The mission statement is what the organization is about. A vision is where you want to see the organization in the future. Do you plan on expanding? Where would you open another office? What other products or services would you like to offer? What are your company’s values? A few good examples are: having a positive work environment, to make a profit each year, or wanting your employees to succeed. Step two environmental analysis you need to research where you want your company located. Environmental scanning means you need to pay attention to what’s going on around you. Is there a competitor opening up shop down the street? How about your customers? How soon can they receive your product or service? Without proper customer service your company can go downhill fast. Word of mouth experience travels fast. Even if one customer is dissatisfied within a day they could tell three other people. Those people can say, “Oh, I’ve heard about that company from a friend and they wouldn’t recommend using them.” So on and so forth. Step three is internal analysis. Not only do you need to look......

...Case Study on Mental Illness Cherelle Floyd HCA/210 March 2, 2011 Mental illnesses are medical conditions that disrupt a person’s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnesses are medical conditions that often result in diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. Serious mental illnesses include major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder. The good news about mental illness is that recovery is possible. Mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, race, religion, or income. Metal illnesses are not the result of personal weakness, lack of character, or poor upbringing. Mental illnesses are treatable. Most people diagnosed with a serious mental illness can experience relief from their symptom by actively participating in an individual treatment plan. In addition to medication treatment, psychosocial treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, peer support groups and other community service can also be components of a treatment plan and that assist with recovery. The availability of transportation, diet, exercise, sleep, friends and meaningful paid or volunteer activities contribute to overall health and wellness, including mental illness recovery.
