Microsoft Office Marketing Strategy

...In April 2009, Kristena Louie, program manager for Microsoft Office, must develop a marketing strategy to better reach and engage the college student market. In contrast to Facebook and Google, which excite and engage students successfully, Microsoft is regarded as lacking innovation, aging, and playing a limited role in students’ lives (p.2, Case A). To understand and overcome such negative perceptions, Louie hires a team of expert to study the mindset and technology preferences of students. With the goal of successfully competing in the college students market, Louie must improve Microsoft’s value proposition through establishing short and long-term milestones with the insights of the market research. In the short run, Microsoft should improve its advertisement strategy and cater to the needs of college students by forming partnerships with universities and campus clubs, re-positioning itself toward the innovative spectrum (Ex. A). Besides, an academic search engine specifically tailored for college students should be constructed (Ex. B). This service distinguishes itself with the specificity of materials it offers. Furthermore, Microsoft should incorporate users’ feedback into its design and layout while educating users about the novel features. In the long run, we should supplement Hotmail with social and productivity features that resemble Gchat and Google Drive. Lastly, we recommend the development of a social network, as well as a mobile app in order to appeal...

Recommendation for Microsoft Office 2003 Upgrade.

...To: Eric Smith From: Nick JB Date: November 8, 2013 Re: Recommendation for Microsoft Office 2003 Upgrade. Introduction The purpose of the report is to recommend which of the available office suites should be obtained to upgrade the obsolete version of Microsoft Office 2003. Microsoft Office 2003, which we use now, has become obsolete and is no longer able to satisfy our daily office needs. Mainstream support for Office 2003 ended April 14, 2009, and extended support will end April 8, 2014. The claims are based upon such drawbacks as: incompatibility with the newer file extensions widely used by our partners and clients, outdated templates and tools, Outlook’s search issues, etc. All these factors not only cause frustration, but negatively affect the company’s image as well. Several potential solutions were examined and the choice was narrowed to two office suites: Microsoft Office 2013 and LibreOffice 4. Each solution has been evaluated according to the criteria below, from most important to least important: 1. Cost. 2. Functionality. 3. Interface and compatibility. 4. Technical support. Scope The most important factor when choosing between the possible solutions is their cost. The suite we choose must be able to fulfill our office’s daily needs and even more, to ensure its usability years ahead. Thus, functionality is the second factor. The third factor is interface and compatibility because the new applications must be user-friendly, with......

Microsoft Office User Manual Critique

...Critique of Microsoft Word User Manual The key to beginning anything is a good introduction, be it a book, an essay, and editorial, and yes, even a user manual. I especially enjoyed the Introduction to the user manual for Microsoft Word 2007. It begins with an introduction to the authors that contributed to the user manual, telling us about their fields of expertise and experience in technical writing. Such an introduction assures the reader that what they are about to read comes from those that have much experience in the area and that the user manual will be as informative as they hope to expect. It then goes on to describe what is new in Microsoft Word 2007, at first glance you can already tell that Word 2007 is more aesthetically pleasing, but this section goes beyond the obvious make over to describe new and different features from previous versions of MS Word which helps the end user learn what to expect and what to watch out for if they encounter a feature that is unfamiliar to them.. The experience of the author’s technical writing skills really shows. Everything is clear and concise. Even the most basic of beginners should have no troubles learning the software through this user manual, they keep things simple without using sentences that run on and on. However, I searched high and low looking for anything that would help to describe what certain terminologies such as “footnote” or “bullets” mean. The manual is pretty extensive so I may have just overlooked it....

Microsoft Office Is an Office Suite

...Microsoft Office is an office suite of interrelated desktop applications, servers and services for the Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OS X operating systems, introduced by Microsoft in 1989. Initially a marketing term for a bundled set of applications, the first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. MICROSOFT WORD Microsoft Word is a word processor and was previously considered to be the main program in Office. Its proprietary DOC format is considered a de facto standard, although Word 2007 can also use a new XML-based, Microsoft Office-optimized format called .DOCX which has been standardized by Ecma International as Office Open XML. The first version of Word, released in the autumn of 1983, was for the MSDOS operating system and had the distinction of introducing the mouse to a broad population. Word 1.0 could be purchased with a bundled mouse, though none was required. Word has a built-in spell checker, thesaurus, dictionary, Office Assistant (a feature to assist users by way of an interactive animated character) and utilities for transferring, copy, pasting and editing text, such as PureText (a small utility that allows users to paste the contents of the software as plain text). "Normal.dot" is the master template from which all Word documents are created. It is one of the most important files in Microsoft Word. It determines the margin defaults as well as the layout of the text and font defaults. Although normal.dot......

...Common Microsoft Office User Errors IT 206 / Final July 27, 2014 Raj Kayathi   Microsoft Word  Summary: Microsoft Word is a word processing program that allows for the creation of both simple and sophisticated documents. There are also features that allow you to add professional looking graphics to your documents. 1  Common Errors:  Auto correct  Formatting errors  Macros  Cannot open a file  Document is formatted on earlier versions  Diagnostic Strategies: One of the best strategies to resolve errors in Microsoft Word is to use the help function within Word itself. Installing Microsoft Office Site

...My experience installing the Microsoft software was a little challenging, when I first purchased my new computer. I purchased all of the newest versions of Windows 8. According to Strayer University requirements I needed Windows 7 or better but with the new computers I was not able to purchase the older version because my computer would have to be downgraded in order to do so. Using the disc provided I downloaded the applications and installed to my computer. Once downloaded I moved the components to my desktop. Each component was launched and an icon appeared for each component onto my desktop. The components which were installed are as follows: Access 2013, Power Point 2013, Excel 2013, Publisher 2013, One Note 2013, Outlook 2013 and Word 2013. In addition, I did not have any issues installing the software, however my concern was the amount of storage I have on my new computer. I predict the least difficult Microsoft Office component that I feel will be the least difficult to learn would be Word 2013, because I have been using it for a few months and I also use it daily for work. Using it daily for work allows me to learn more about what the new program can do. Although it does more than 2010 it keeps me up to date with the newest version. I predict the most difficult Microsoft Office component will be Power Point 2013 and Excel 2013, because I have not worked with the software at all and I am eager to learn the Power Point and Excel. I feel it will be a little......

...different entities such as hotels, restaurants, gift shops, a spa, a golf course and pro shop, and a convention center (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006). Currently, Baderman’s computer systems contain three separate operating systems (Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP).
