Every day individuals encounter life experiences not realizing the scientific nature of physics being involved. Physics exists all around weather one is cognizant or not. For example, roller coasters have become quite the attraction at major theme parks all across the globe and operate due to physics. Many men, women, boys and girls want to experience the thrill of zero gravity, upside down loops, twists and curls at extremely fast speeds. However, there is another portion of the population who does not want to go anywhere and would rather speculate from the ground. In either instance, the detailed study of physical science makes it all possible. Even though the physics of a roller coaster are intricate due to the composition of various forms of energy, accelerometers and gravitational forces; their makeup can be quite intriguing. The study of physics dates back several years and can be attributed to different individuals. Knowing the history of physics will help understand general concepts and how they can be applied to creating objects such as the roller coaster. The lessons initiated from the historical founders of physics are vitally important to apprehend the ideas of today and more importantly the direction for how they will shape tomorrow (Garcia et al., 2010). Copernicus, a prominent attributer, initially suggested that the planets revolve around the sun and the Earth rotates on an axis (Britannica Biographies, 2011). The idea will later assist Galileo, another prominent Physics historian, with theories such as free fall and experimentation with pendulums. Newton followed and was able to elaborate on the idea and further explain gravity and the concept of inertia. Einstein collaborated the theory of relativity which expounded on Newton’s ideas (Dellian, 2003). The above theories are all involved in the construction and operation of roller…...

...be and how scared It was actually going to be. So I tried to prepare my mind so that when the time came I would remain calm. When I woke up I was fine. The nerves started on the way there. But I knew if I let it get to me then I would back out of riding. As soon as we pulled up in the parking lot and I saw coasters I got this Erie feeling in my stomach. However, I was excited at the same time. So we got in and walked around for about 30 minutes, so that I had enough time to scope out some small coasters to ride! But I knew my sister would ask me to ride one with her it was just a matter of time. And as soon as the thought left my head, she asked. I was so stunned that my stomach just dropped and at that point I the most nervous than before. In my head I wanted to tell her no!, but I knew that if I came this far I had to go. And god knows the names and laughing she would call me because I said no. so I went along with it and said why not. The worst part is the waiting in line. First off the lines are supper long. Second off it was scorching out. And lastly the nervousness really sets in when you can hear other people yelling due to how fast and high the roller coaster is. On top of that its just a waiting game because you know that at any minute your time Is next it just a matter of when. So finally the time came for me to get on. However, I kept seeing little kids get off and I knew that if they had fun riding, then it shouldn’t be a problem for me. So we walked to......

The Design and Efficiency of Wheat Roller Mill

...design and smooth efficiency of our wheat roller mill makes all grains more palatable and digestible by fracturing each kernel's outside hull, allowing digestive juices to penetrate more rapidly. The wheat roller mill can be removed in about ten minutes. The frame is slotted so you can lift the rolls out easily. This is accomplished by not having to remove the bearings or pulleys when re-grooving is required. Because the bearings come out with the rollers, simple release of 4 bolts, and the rolls lift right out. Ten minutes, as opposed to half a day. Most of the competitors' grain mills require that you literally take the entire unit apart, and new bearings are usually required when the rolls are regrooved. The quality control of flour begins when the wheat is received at the WHEAT ROLLER MILL. The wheat is tested for its protein content and for its ash content. The ash content is the portion which remains after burning and consists of various minerals. The consistent particle size produced with wheat roller mill also provides increased bulk, allowing animals to eat more rations and better assimilate the digestible nutrients. All of this results in better feed conversion, giving your rolled grain an advantage over the traditional milled product used by feed production operations. Wheat roller mill has one roller mounted higher in the frame than the other roller. Roller mills have a variety of uses in an assortment of industries. Wheat roller mill has traditionally been......

Roller Function in Corn Grits Machine

...Corn grits machine has very important function in corn industry. As we know, corn grits machine consists of lots of parts. They help to finish the corn processing task together. Therefore, we should keep regular maintenance of corn grits machine parts and ensure each part cooperates with each other perfectly.Roller is one of the main essential part of corn grits machine. Whether the CORN GRITS MACHINE runs well, roller maintenance matters a lot. We can maintain roller according to the following aspects: 1. Check whether the roller has serious bump or damage before operation. 2. The roller elasticity affects corn grits machine efficiency. So we need to check the roller elasticity by rotating the roller. Ensure the roller has no jam in working. 3. We should be careful in installing roller to avoid mutual friction of the parts. 4. We should count the installation diameter of the roller scientifically. In short, good performance of the roller and the corn processing machine depends on the correct operation and maintenance. We need to maintain the roller and the other parts of the machine regularly and make the machine keep normal running every day. History of Roller Coasters

... Jones 1 History of Roller Coasters! ! Have you ever wondered who invented the roller coaster. Or what the first roller coaster looked like? The roller coaster started with a simple idea and grew to become one of modern worlds most renowned park rides. The first kinds of roller coasters and how modern-day roller coasters differ from the roller coasters in medieval times.! Davis Bowers states in his research that, “Roller coasters can trace their origins back to the Russian ice slides”. He continues on to explain that the Russians were the original inventors of the roller coaster with large man-made ice hills. The rider would have to sit in a sled that was made out of wood or ice (ice being the most common). The problem with these sleds was that the driver needed to be somewhat experienced so that the sled didn't run off the hill. These rides were most commonly seen at fairs located across the Russian country side. “While these slides grew in popularity in Russia, a French businessman, decided to build an Ice Slide in France” (Bowers). Unfortunately for the Frenchmen the climate in France was not suited for this type of structure, however this did not deter him and he strived to build something that was better suited for any climate. The Frenchmen used a wax wooden slope and hills to replicate the Russian design and used wooden sleds with rollers on the bottom(Bowers). ! ! As we continue forward in history, there were many different roller coasters being built at the......

Operation High Roller

...Operation High Roller Alejo Maciel II March 25, 2015 Introduction Operation High Roller (OHR) was a brazen cyber-attack discovered in January, and made public in July of 2012 by computer security firms McAfee and Guardian Analytics. OHR targeted high balance accounts of both individual consumer and business financial institutions, using a new extensive level of automation built on previously known Trojans Zeus and SpyEye. Although no person or group has ever been identified for the conspiracy and execution of the operation, the attackers were traced to servers performing these attacks in Russia, Albania, and China. According to the McAfee/Guardian Analytics report “Dissecting Operation High Roller,” the firms first identified the group’s initial attack in Italy. Analyzing the attack and identifying the new tactics the group used to successfully target the Italian Bank, the firms found strong evidence of a replication attack against a German bank. It wasn’t until subsequent evidence of attack campaigns within Latin American and the United States were found that the global nature of these attacks was validated (Marcus & Sherstobitoff, 2012). Over an undisclosed time period an approximate amount of $78 million, with a potentially maxed attempt of $2 billion, was successfully siphoned during OHR (Quain, 2012). Analysis The group responsible for these attacks built their tactics on previously existing malware, custom malware, and an in-depth awareness of......

Operation High Roller

...Operation High Roller CSIA 301 November 23, 2014 New forms of cyber crime continue to come up all the time. Technology has aided the theft of money from bank accounts from banks from all over the world and one such cyber attack was Operation High Roller a cyber attack that targeted corporate bank accounts. According to The Wall Street Journal, these attacks which began in Europe spread to Latin America and even the United States (Booker 2012). The attackers did fraudulent transfer of money from accounts belonging to financial institutions. For instance, in the United States, the victims of the attack were companies whose commercial accounts had a minimum of several million dollars. The attackers sent SpyEye and Zeus software to hack computers that were infected with malware. This cyber attack has an extensive network and automation which interacts with serves that are used by their target victims. But much of the transactions are carried out in the servers used by the criminals. Two security firms, McAFee and Gurdian Analytic (Business Insider) were behind this discovery and they realized that there was no human participation required in the transactions. All the criminals needed were insider understanding of the goings on in the banking industry transaction systems. They then developed commercial and custom codes which they maliciously used to siphon millions of dollars into their virtual accounts. About sixty serves were identified as the ones used in making......

Anyone can learn how to roller skate, by learning the simple basics at their own pace, and enjoying its many health benefits. Roller skating burns hundreds of calories. If I simply skate at least 30 minutes, moving my arms and legs and maintaining a slow to moderate pace, I get a complete body workout. Because of this, I’ve been able to maintain a perfect body weight and my legs have become stronger, with improved flexibility. According to the American Heart Association (2009), roller skating is ranked among the best aerobic exercises. As a result, of roller skating at least twice a week, I’ve been able to build up my endurance, and I now feel like I have a lot more energy to do other things. I have personally been able to keep my blood pressure in a low normal range, rather than in a high normal range, and I feel great! I can’t imagine going a week without roller skating, because I enjoy it so much. I love “getting my groove on” while listening to old school, and disco music. One of my favorite moves is to smoothly maneuver on the floor, while doing one of my signature dance routines and then sliding on the floor to make a......

Ulysses S Grant Roller Coaster

...The Ulysses Roller Coaster By Chris Webber (4034141) American Public University System July 10, 2015 HIST101: American History to 1877 Professor Gerlach What do George Washington, Dwight Eisenhower and Andrew Jackson all have in common? They were all war proven generals that later became president. Another name that can go on this list is General Ulysses Simpson Grant. Grant is considered one of the most important men for the Union during the Civil War and he rode that fame into the White House. His roller coaster life had many lows that would have crushed the average man, which made is highs even grander. This is story of Ulysses S. Grant, his early life, early military career, Mexican War, Civil War and finally his presidency. Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27th 1822 to the name of Hiram Ulysses Grant1. His father, Jesse Grant, was a tanner and mildly successful business man. Ulysses did not have the same knack for business or tanning as his father. As a matter of fact, he did not really have a knack for much of anything, other than horses. His small stature, poor family and lack of good business knowledge quickly made him the laughing stock of his community. He was known to have tried to haggle a deal to buy a colt. Instead of offering low, he offered his low price, middle price and high price all in the same offer. Needless to say the horses’ owner sold the colt for the highest price2. This lack of common business sense and the fact that Ulysses did not......

A Roller Coaster to Die for

...A Roller Coaster to die for Roller Coaster Design By: Dannielle Franco and Aeriane Crisostomo (Grade 10 – Honesty) Let’s face it, making a roller coaster design is not easy. You can not just make one without considering facts. Great roller coaster designs needs ‘The Brains’ not just imagination and your hunger for excitement. Now, let’s talk about “the Brain” that makes this awesome structure come alive! In making roller coaster designs, we need a concrete idea of what we are doing. We need polynomial functions. I know you might say, “What does a polynomial function got to do with a roller coaster?!” the answer is simple. Polynomial functions can be graphed that will resemble a perfect roller coaster. With its turning points and death-defying heights when put into structure, our polynomial function can turn into a roller coaster that will take your breath away. How do we do it? Here’s how.... Function: P(x) = x6 – 7x5 + 7x4 + 35x3 – 56x2 – 28x +48 First we need a polynomial function that we can graph into a roller coaster to die for. A. End Behavior The leading coeffiecient is positive and its degree is even, so the graph rises to the left and to the right. B. Turning Points: N – 1 = number of turning points N represents the highest degree 6 – 1 = 5 turning points We also need to know the end behavior of our roller coaster and the number of its turning points. C.......

This is an issue for Stephen Connor, Peter’s boss and RSH as a whole. Stephen doesn’t know what to do in the situation because Peter is the best performer for the firm and finding a replacement is near impossible. Peter’s decision to look into accepting a job at another firm could affect the profitability of RSH because it will affect their overall ratings. Because of this predicament, Stephen is debating whether to offer a counter offer to Peter in attempt to get him to stay. Another option Stephen could consider is promoting Peter’s assistant Rina into Peter’s position even though Stephen doesn’t feel that Rina is fully qualified for the job she is looking to fill. Possible Alternatives There are a few alternatives that are available for Stephen to choose from. Stephen could choose to issue a counter offer to Peter in an attempt to keep him at the firm. Stephen could also give Rina, Peter’s assistant, the job opportunity with the hope that she will grow into the position and be profitable for the company. Stephen also has the option to look for employee’s outside of the organization to hire for the position. Each of these alternatives has the option to prove profitable for the firm. Pros and Cons of Alternatives The alternatives above......
